I've had my MY00 uk scoob for a few months now and was well happy with its performance, that was until my mate kicked my **** with his Escort cos(300+ bhp).
All of the sudden my plans to keep my scoob standard went out of the window.
Has anyone got any ideas or experience for tuning a MY00 without killing it as i've heard that the engine is a bit more fragile than earlier versions when tampered with.

Any help will be very welcome.
Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve,
well her's my plans for my my00, new wheels and tyres (pd7's in anthracite and so-2's) ap 6pot brakes, ppp, and full exaust system.
keeping it nice and easy for now, about 5500 quids worth in total but going for the reliability factor and may be looking at 260+bhp on standard uk turbo, just hoping that im not too optomistic

Put a SS exahust or an HKS (like mine) on it, fit an ITG panel filter and then be happy. That way you will have no cause for concern.

Happy scoobing

steve
it really all depends on what you want to achieve and what is your budget? you will not beat a 300bhp+ cossie just with an exhuast mod on a UK car though.

to do that you are talking about exhaust, brakes, ECU, turbo?, bigger wheels ???, suspension bits and bobs ?

save your money and buy a sti.

Why not give Scoobymania a bell to discuss, or drop 'em a mail? Mike Tuckwood's address is mailto:mike@scoobymania.co.uk, or phone +44 115 913 3199...

Safe is relative . I'd go for an exhaust (I've got the scoobysport one, but after hearing the Scoobymania one at the weekend would recommend that you consider that). The backbox will make it sound faster, if nothing else.

Spend money on driver training, and maybe the powerstation handling mods. If you're a better driver, it doesn't really matter what you're driving within reason...

Hey chiark!
Is the sound of the Scoobymania bb louder than the Scoobysport????

How do the two compare?

Wotcha Ric,

It wouldn't be fair to compare, as we were in my wife's 1.2 Clio, having left my car at home. It's easier to get someone in a wheelchair in and out of, and also halves the price of petrol . It's only motorway driving, so it's not a wonderful driving experience that I missed...

As well as that, the Scoobymania system was a complete system - downpipe, centre pipe, the lot.

It did sound wonderful and looked to be very high quality - the d/p was "shiny coated", I think the rest of the system was too. The exit is 4" diameter and has a mesh on the inside to prevent discolouration from heat.

My wife didn't say it was too loud; perhaps she's just given up on that comment...
