Default CALLING JDM NEWAGE OWNERS! ADVICE NEEDED

Im in the market for a newage JDM STI prefferebly an MY03 STI8, im trying to get my head round what keys are issued with the car from the factory. Ive been told that generally only one key is issued with two seperate alarm fobs, is this correct?

Any further info on buying a JDM would be greatly appreciated also, anything specifically i should look out for ie SVA documentation etc, can anyone show me what the genuine certificate should look like as ive never seen one.

If you do not wish to post to the public please PM me which would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Kris

Had my MY03 JDM STi for over 4 years now with no issues to speak of. I have had problems with suspension and brakes but these are problems which would have occured with UK/EU/JDM car.

Go for it they are a great car and offer a far higher spec than equivalent UK car for that year.

Mine came with one billet aluminum key and one standard key.

There was no alarm fitted to mine until it came into the UK, so that the alarm system fitted met Thatcham classes.

Same here also

Tony

PS, an MY03 JDM car if they continued to use the numbering would be an STi V9 (04 is a 10, 05 is an 11, 06 a 12 etc etc)

Hi Kris,

I have the original master key which is alloy with STI stamped on it, these cost £60. It has a plastic cover as it's never been used. I also have the Subaru key which I use daily, it has the 'lock' 'unlock' buttons on it with the Subaru logo.

As everyone else has said here, don't buy anything without the correct documetation and history.

Greg :-)

as did mine, you can get replacement alloy keys for £25. They look so much better compared to the uk keys due to not having the immobiliser chip in them.
