Prodrive And Insurance
How do Insurance companies treat the Prodrive package.
Is the car still classed as a standard once fitted
Or is it classed as been moded
Thinking of having it fitted and just wondered if there was any problems with insurance or the best thing to tell them.
Thanks

If fitted after delivery its a definate modification and your premium will rise. One difficulty is getting some insurers to understand what ppp is.

Because ppp is a subaru approved optional performance package insurance companies will not refuse cover, I'm with admiral and had no problems with my 2003 sti type uk ppp.

Had an absolute nightmare with Admiral when I had the PPP fitted - the 305hp STI is listed on their database but they wanted to put the individual parts of the kit through as modifications - was going to put £270 on my premium.
Ended up telling them to stick it and got an online quote from Bell (Admiral) which was £80 more than I paid last year without the PPP - but had the option to declare that it was only a alarm/immobiliser fitted and cancelled the Tracker saving £120 a year.

I had an STI PPP early last year and Privilege were asking LESS money to insure the PPP than the standard car. When I enquired why, they told me simply that they had less claims from PPP car owners than owners of standard STI's.

depending on year and model the PPP is listed by some companies as a different model and will be able to do it.. others treat it as a modifictation and others will not insure on it as it is an ecu upgrade.. depends on who you are insured with really... and who you speak to there...

Is your car still under warranty? Why have you decided on Prodrive mods? There are lots of mods you can do, the one reason for doing the prodrive one is that if your car is under warranty then the warranty is still recognised after modding with Prodrive whereas it isnt if other mods are used

So now I still have 2 sets of insurance. 1 for the Fieasta with Admiral and 1 With A-Plan for the Scooby.
