Default Import turbos from US ??

Has anyone imported a Turbo from United States ?

something like an 18g turbo is about 875 USD - about 450 GBP

from a UK site from a well known performance parts supplier they want just shy of 1000GBP

now if u import it from US ok it sa bit of messing about but its not going to cost the difference of around 500 GBP to import

so is it worth doing ?
Bez.

after shipping and import taxes it wont be far off also you will have a nightmare if you need a warrantee claim on it assuming it is sold with a warranty which im sure UK suppiers provide

After learning from experience importing from abroad, you could always ask the supplier to put used car parts on the customs declaration, as I believe these are VAT exempt

If that little bit of advice works Norman Dog, I will love you forever! I am still waiting for my brakes to be shipped from the states and am absolutely dreading the financial bitchslap I might be in for courtesy of 'Her Majesty' .

cheers,

Nick .

send the part as a sample and the VAT is exempt.

or have a mate buy you one in the US and ship it to you that way if you have trouble you can just send it back to your mate and have him get the warranty work done on it.

it shouldnt be too bad.
