My experience with Mocom Racing £400.00 mapping.......
I managed to get hold of Zak eventually arranged to go down there on Wednesday just gone.
Left nice and early, got there for just before 9.00am, followed shortly after by Zak and then Luke.
I did opt for the 7B plugs and after a quick slurp of coffee Zak went outside to my car and lifted the bonnet. Only to be greeted buy an oil covered engine,Bollux!!
Both Zak and Luke got to work looking for the problem. Within minutes Luke found it, A split crank breather. This was soon fixed, and a top-up of 1 1/2 litres of oil and all at no extra cost to me i may add!!!
Then the second snag, Zak pointed out that my turbo inlet hose had a small split. I was very unimpressed by this as i could not feel any problem while driving it but it was clearly split.
At this point i was thinking of binning the idea of the re-map due to costs. However, Zak found a second-hand spare and told me he would only charge me two hours labour for fitting it,and a small fee for the inlet pipe which i thought was good considering having to remove the top manifold.
Zak then dropped me off in the local town of Epping to save me hanging around and picked me up a few hours later.
Job done Zak and i were off to re-map the car.
He wasn't rushed and was happy to explain my ever inquisitive questioning of what he was doing.
After various runs in various gears i could feel the car pulling harder and driving smoother.
Zak finished at around 8.00pm.
We went back to the workshop where Luke was still working on another car.
Anyhow, i paid my money and said my goodbyes and off i went.
The car pulls really hard now and seems so much faster, yet i was disappointed with the final power figures of 305 BHP maximum and 305 lbs of torque.
Although i have a HKS panel filter the car is completely de-catted with a 3" exhaust, fitted with cooler plugs, and after market wrapped headers and decat pipe.
Zak did say the car's power would be limited as i was using a panel filter.
I've now got a K&N 57i to put on the car and a different back box. I will let you know how much it costs for another tweak on the ECU from Mocom when i can get booked in.
Overall they were a pair of knowledgable honest and decent blokes.
So cheers to Zak and Luke

Don't get caught up with numbers!!
You have already stated "The car pulls really hard now and seems so much faster"
Chasing numbers is a receipe for trouble IMHO
Zak knows his stuff

My last car was identical bar my old car having standard plugs and headers, but did have an induction kit. It was done on a rolling road but made 332 BHP and 297 lbs of Torque.
Forgot to say both cars were fitted with Walbra fuel pumps.

Yeah, well you NEED the extra power fuel pump
Glad you're happy that it feels faster and feels like it pulls stronger .....
You're under the curve and into the blue

Different rolling roads give different results. I wouldn't worry too much if i was you.

In theory, with what you have you should be seeing noticably more than a PPP would give you. You certainly shouldn't need a cone filter with that level of tune? (I wonder what it would have got with the original ex. manifold?)
Peak BHP is somewhat academic, it's what the improvements in mid range give you that's important.

the panel filter set up is good for 350-400bhp so shouldnt be giving you any trouble at that level of power, cant understand why they would say that, be careful with cone filters especially k+n ones, its rumoured that they are a definite cause of maf failure

The use of a induction kit with a cold air feed would be to help keep charge temps down, thats where the standard airbox is restrictive, the more cold air you can get into the engine the more fuel it will use, and the bigger that spark will be and the better the performance

So these after market headers and up-pipe i have fitted. Am i right in thinking they will up the torque and bhp in the high rev range?
I would prefer speed off the line than top end.Would i achieve this by putting my standard headers back on???

the figures do seem very poor to me. Wasn't this the car that many said could go 350 ?
Personally I would be asking questions..............I know figures aren't everything (it's all about how it drives ) but with any increse in power you will see a improvement but I think you sould see a better improvement than that.
