Exactly which bits of classics are made from what? My imported MY98 WRX has an obviously aluminium bonnet and I've heard that all Jap import classics also had the same, whereas UK cars made do with steel.

But what about other bits like say the tailgate or boot, door panels etc? I've just had a knock on my tailgate and it looks very much like the tailgate of my wagon is also aluminium. If I get a replacement I don't want to end up with steel instead.

 

My '96 STI has an aluminium bonnet, the rest is all steel. You can easily check with a magnet if it's not obvious.

i suggest a magnet from a PD1850 speaker. NOT

 

Front wishbone arms are aluminum on imports and steel on uk cars.

 

My bonnet and tailgate are ALU on my Sti type R, so light compared to any of my previous cars!

Get a chip or a scratch in it, and it is sure to rust mate.

No tailgates are aluminium and remember P1's and only 16 22B's are UK cars.
