Default Why is it so much easier to get power from a Evo.

Hey guys trading my evo7 in next week off a 2006 sti spec-c v-limited. My evo runs about 360bhp now on 95 as I am in Ireland and I am worried now I wont be able get the spec c to the same power with the same sort of mods.
What do you guys think?

You should get close to that with a full decat exhaust & a remap. You will have to use higher octane fuel (V-power).

Evo's do seem more able to extract power from when compared against Scoobs. At a guess the FMIC setup on the Evo has to help a lot IMO. I was also told they run bigger injectors out of the box when compared to Scoob OE items.

The Evo has a shorted exhaust manifold which will help too.

Evos have shorter primaries on their manifolds, also run twinscroll for better response. Better positioned intercoolers. Slightly bigger turbos as stock. Also have a proper block and none of this open deck rubbish. So big boost isnt a problem.

Sometimes wish id bought an evo

Ha... the track is home territory for a spec c.I went to oulton park with my mate who has a fq360 and he couldn't keep up. We swapped cars and i couldn’t keep up with him when he was in my spec c. There’s not much in it on the straights but through the corners the spec c handles much better.

And am not biased as i come from a evo 9 gt .

Well to be honest I love the look of the spec c and if I do go ahead and buy it I will fit bigger front brakes a good coilover setup maybe the ast ones like on the type 25. But one thing putting me off this car is I have found out the guy selling it to me has been using te car out of the garage and driving it round himself and it hasnt been mapped and is being run on 95 fuel.
So I am thinking I might try sell my evo privatly and buy a 9gt evo so I will have to wait and see last thing I want to do is sell my car and not be happy with the power of the spec-c.

The new age ecu's are very advanced and can retard them selfs to run on lower octane fuel but 95 ron is a little to low.

The spec c runs a twin scroll turbo (vf36), so changing to a 20g or fp green would mean changing the up and downpipes because they are single scroll
