anyone ever had NOS fitted to there scooby
hello
anyone had or have nos fitted to there scooby,if so what sort of range have they done, i have been told that the scooby engines are quite soft for the power and have been advised not to fit nos,i have already blew one engine apart at 150mph,my car should be running at about 280bhp now with the upgrades i have, the only one i have not done is the exhaust manifold.
has anyone topped 150mph???

no offence fella, but ive noticed youve mentioned doing 150mph on two/three different threads now, and when questioned youve only said "it was a while ago". you will not do yourself any favours unless you were on a trackday or something... a little warning from the toffs on here, and the plod who frequent scoobynet, oh and the insurers on here too.
for the record, mickyjeff on here is currently taking his 05 sti to pieces and mentioned recently when he came down hes putting a "wizard of nos" kit on it. depends what the internals of the engine can take.
now stop bloody dropping yourself in it with this 150mph lark. you were doing 70 ok!?!?!

would get a nos kit of ebay,my pal says a big no no,says it would blow engine,or melt pistons, just a small boost would do,what sort of stuff would need to be done to engine to strengthen them,i have spoke to alot of people in newcastle about these and they all say the engines are soft, need to get it rolling road tested aswell to see what its kicking out now.

From: I live in Wheelock near Sandbach Cheshire.
Topping 150mph, my SVX has shown 140 on the clock at 4500rpm (On a track of course). Its an Auto and the redline is 7000rpm. Chickened out because the car started to lift and go light. Its stock with no mods yet. Wait till I get those 2 turbo's and the Manual Gearbox!!.

I had a ZEX kit fitted to my old car - WET kit is better than a DRY kit as it's safer. Very important that it's set-up correctly so that AFR is correct when in use. ZEX kits only operate on WOT which is safer and they also connect to FPR and vac line to monitor pressure. I ran 80bhp jets which gave me no probs at all and I saw a good increase in torque.
NOS kits are dead easy to install but do not use it until it's been checked / set-up on a RR. If your feeling proper fast & furious fit a purge kit like I did, no real use but a good laugh :-)

From: Somewhere in Kent, sniffing some V-Power
Nothing wrong with going fast...........however, bragging about it just makes everyone assume that you have a 'nat size sausage' in your trousers......or that you are actually 8yrs old.

Why do you assume he's 'bragging' ? - it's just a speed - it's not big or clever - it's just something he's interested in and is asking questions about.

If you leave nitrous in the lines it partly boils into gas over time (or does it dissociate to nitrogen and oxygen.. one of the 2). The jets will not meter the gas correctly and the instant hit will be be over rich with fuel. Purging the line means you will have liquid all the way to the solenoid and get the correct metering straight away.
Of course it all happens so fast it's doubtful you'd notice
