"P1 not crap" shock (SPOILERS)
#1
Check out the new Evo mag for their Car of the Year 2000. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it, so scroll down if you want to continue...
P1 does well in Car of the Year 2000, and they reckon a Diablo couldn't beat it cross-country. Top three were 911 turbo with 90.1 out of 100, then the new Audi-fied Diablo with 89.4%, then P1 with 89.3%. Lotus 340R was a distant fourth with 85.8%, and the Ferrari 360 Spider scored 80.4%. The main thing they liked seemed to be the handling, so all you 22b lovers maybe ought to cut down on the "overpriced STI with a warranty & bigger spoiler" comments IMO a great article, such a contrast with Car magazine's silly "Performance car of the year", even though the 911 won both contests.

So, two magaiznes, correctly IMHO come the same conclusion that the 911 Turbo is a top car (and having seen a well driven one monster Donington I have to agree, there'd be an awful lot of Scoobs in its wake)...
...but because one gives lower scores to the 4-wd rally cars, because they make compromised track cars - it is crap?
Or is it that one magazine flatters our egos more

so Prodrive have been liberal with the christmas hampers this year eh?
not that I would ever suggest that the allegiance of those excellent journos at EVO could ever be swayed in any way ;-)
isn't there also a big P1 sales push going on at the moment too? - coincidence? - I think we should be told.
- anyone else spot the irony that, in an issue that raves about the EVO 6 makinen (compared to new STI), they fail totally to take the P1's main rival along to the same tests in Anglesey???
my predicition for 2001 - EVO's entire 'fast fleet' are all chopped-in for 6 brand-new P1s - going cheap at an IM dealer near you.
ho ho ho,

To be fair though, they rate the Evo Makinen edition as the best sports saloon in their "knowledge" section now. Kind of strange how they don't have it in car of the year! Last time they said they couldn't get one from Ralliart so perhaps the same problem this time round? They should have at least mentioned this though IMO. The Evo Makinen would have scored similarly I think i.e. just behind the 2 supercars.
