if its not hammered as you say
why do you have/ need a shift light?
surely for optimum driving you should be changing gear at 3K![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
and how do you get to 6K? nail it in every gear to the 6K mark, then change up?
one thing i can say with certainty......a main stealer aint going to be cheap![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

MY06....warrantee?
If it is = £0![Cool](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
If not = ££££![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Don't think late models suffer from any particular inherant HG problems, but thats not to say they won't fail anyway. Although I'd suspect a very minor leak in the cooling system to have occured, causing air lock which in turn can cause a HG failure.

Was it losing anywater? how long did it take to over heat? Did the pipes feel solid?
I think your dealer might be pulling a fast one!

You say you heard a gurgling noise.. sounds more like an airlock, maybe it did slighly over heat, coolant flowed into the expansion/resoviour but didnt get drawn back up afterwards.

Same thing happened to mine at 23k ... Had oil consumption issues from 10k onwards and then HG went at 23k and all pistons had to be replaced ... There is a known fault on the 2.5 engine and you should have no problems with getting it fixed under warranty.

whats all this business about didnt hammer it? Its a bluddy sports car and as such is designed to be driven hard without thinking its going to break at the first hurdle.Give it some and enjoy..
