Wet engines??
#1
As we all know the spark plugs on our scoobies are way down in the engine bay.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that some Imprezas' do not have an engine splash guard on the underside of the engine.
Now, with all this rain and driving through water sitting quite a few inches deep - a scooby I know would not start the next morning (the engines and HT leads were soaking wet!!) Engine was not hot when parked up for the night.
I have never heard of Scoobies not starting, indeed never heard of many going wrong!! (as long as you dont mess with them I am told)
So, anyone had this wet problem - I haven't in my MY00 - but then again I have got an engine splash guard.

Hi
I've had a problem twice when washing the car it wouldn't start mentioned it to garage at the next service and they said they know about and it's just one of them things.
so i'm carefull not to drench it now.
I would just give out a clicking noise and then eventually the starter motor would wind up and start

I experienced this a couple of weeks ago in my MY97 turbo. On the way home from work I went through a smallish flood. Got home about 5-10 minutes later and parked the car up. When I went out to it a couple of hours later it wouldn't start. I think it took me about 15 minutes to get it started (being careful not to flood, no pun intended, the engine). This was two days before heading off to the Network Q so I was a tad worried.
However since that night its been fine and I'm now careful to give the car a good run if I have to go through any more floods.
