Potential Trackstar/Insurance/Direct Debit problems
#1
I have just been made aware of a potentially serious problem for trackstar customers who pay by direct debit.
If you take/took advantage of their offer for 3 months free, you might find that your bank has cancelled the direct debit when trackstar come to take the second payment in 14-15 months time, as it would appear that most banks’ systems remove direct debits if they are not used for 13 months.
Not an enormous problem unless your insurance specifically requires the trackstar, in which case I presume you’d technically invalidate your insurance until you pay up. In my case it took about seven days for trackstar to contact me. Quite a while not to have any insurance.

Well spotted Josh...
This is potentially a huge problem where an approved Tracking System is a requirement on a motor policy...without the tracking cover in place (whether your fault or not), technically the insurance would be void!! (tho I'd like to see them try and win it in a court or via the ombudsman)...
Keep alert you all...

Tony,
£112.80 for the trackstar.
Fortunately Rum informs me that the Trackstar is not a requirement on my insurance, but there are many people for whom it is. I can't believe that these things just drop off the bank's systems after 13 months, and they don't have to tell us.
Consequently, you enter that big insurance grey area for as long as it takes for the company to write to you for their money.
