Possible Scooby Purchaser!
Hi Guys,
Took an 05 WRX (with prodrive) 2.0T (19k miles) out on Friday last, spectacular drive, loved the car to bits.
Currently drive an 05 Audi 2.0 TFSI (with dsg) which is lovely but a bit too tame...(and suffers for 200bhp to 2 wheels)
Can someone advise me if there is anything i should check for, or whether another model would be better, this one is £14k but i would spend up to 18k for the right car, at the moment the dealer would end up giving me more for my audi than the scooby is worth :/
Thanks
Mr Steve

£14k is a bit high for a WRX, seen them cheaper on autotrader but prices vary in this market.
I recommend you test drive a 05 STi (or an 06/07 2.5 STi if you fancy that) - you will have a different view of the WRX. The STi is in another league, both cars are fantastic but the STi is just a much more complete package.
Again good 05 STi examples can be had anywhere from £14k upwards to £19k for a really mint example. If you prefer a more subtle drive then the WRX is a safe bet, still put's a smile on your face!
You could always try out the 06/07 new shape WRX or STi's, great cars again, more torquey on the mid-range however I keep hearing they are a bit more thirsty on oil.
Choices choices hehe

Thanks for the info,
I saw an 06/07 sti in the showroom i went to, and it did look damn good, i just assumed that being in insurance group 20 i wouldnt get insured.
Im 25 with 3 years no claims (3 years driving), on the wrx it was £900... maybe i could consider an sti?
Thanks for the help.

Shop around, you might get a good quote but aye, usually due to the STi being a group 20 you will get quoted silly figures as apposed to the WRX.
£900 on a WRX sounds like a spot on deal mate, get your no claims built up and you can always upgrade to an STi or upgrade your WRX to an STi spec if not better.

I know it's only peanuts compared with all the other running costs, but don't forget that all '06 and later cars are in the top band for road tax. £400 next year and who knows what later plus may be hammered in congestion charge zones at some point.

have a look on www.allbrandsnew.com there are brand new WRX's on there for 14k ! I'd rather spend my money there TBH. the 2.5 is a better engine, IMO
A remap would easily see the torque and power rise nicely.

MIDLIFE CRISIS at 25, ha
I started with a rover218 (lasted 4 months) went to an old 94 A4, then got a good job and found myself at audi garage... chose a soot chucker before moving back to petrol.
my friend used to have a WRX and told me before spending 30k on an S3 i should take one out, 2 completely different cars but i think i should go scooby route whilst still under 30!
I thought about Revo, APR, GIAC, Bluefin, on my Audi but well, I NEED GRIP!
Completely torn between the two.
Thanks for the advice

The car will be a Euro import and have a pan-european warranty for 3 years. Check if the car has been registered as the warranty may have started to run, but they will tell you with a quick call. The car is UK spec so is classed as UK by insurance companies, and is undersealed.
The company is on the level and their service is great, i got mine from them March 06 and 20,000 miles later im still happy. I would buy one from them again without a doubt!!!
Dont pay stealer prices for a second hand WRX, PPP or not, 14k is way over priced!!!
You wont be disapointed if you buy from a car supermarket, go for it i say
Just took a look at their site and it looks like 14,349 is on the road. If not the max price you will pay is £14699OTR........what a bargain!!!!!!!!!!!111
