Default Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 - No Service History

Hello. I am looking to upgrade my Impreza sport for a turbo. I have found one that I really like but it has no service history at all.
Is it worth risking it and buying it? It's up for £5000 with 71k on the clock.

Would think you can get one with similar/lower milage and FSH for that money - there are plenty out there. I would steer clear.

I would stay clear to be on the safe side.

I paid £7000 for mine but it only had 52K on the clock W reg and had full service history

Its worth waiting to find one which has all the stamps in the service book

Stamps in a book are nice if you're a "swapper", but if it has bills to look at they're as good.... ?

Mine has been to Specialists and dealers, so not full of "stamps", but every single bill is in a file to see ( and add up on a wet Sunday ).

Yeah, sad isn't it !

Good Luck,

Dunx

Anyone can stamp up a book, if it doesnt have the book but every receipt and every mot to back up the miles this would be better, if however it has nothing walk away and find one that does, as someone else pointed out theres plenty forsale with all their history and 5k is alot with no history.
If a car has been looked after it will come with a file of receipts as the owners are proud and like something to show for the work carried out and something to show others when selling etc, cars with nothing have generally been abused.

Mine ahd no documentation at all as it was a fresh import.. Looked over it, everything was as it should be, tidy enough but not too clean. Had her 6 months and all is perfect. Got it at a good price an all.

Am mechanically minded and my mate owns a garage so there would have to be something really wrong to cause me grief

Better to buy one with 100k on the clock and full history than 70 without.
Don't be scared of one with higher miles my MY97 wagon had done 118k when I sold to my brother who sold at 132k to a mate and at 150K its still going strong .

paid 5900 on a s plate, 90k full service with a seperate service history book to record the mileage when each mod was added plus all reciepts, and the car is in A1 condition right the way through, so look at the higer mileage ones aswell.
