Default Digital Clock on dashboard switches on & off (Bugeye!)

The clock on the dashboard either:

Doesnt come on when i switch on the ignition
comes on randomly ie a few mins later
Comes on only if i give the dashboard a slight whack

Any ideas what this could be and how i could fix this? Any help would be well appreciated. Thankyou

Yep, it's toast. I've just bought a new one from the breakers for the very same reason.
It did what yours is doing for a while before it eventually gave up the ghost.
Common problem on the Newage apparently.
£45 + vat from a dealer of £25 from the breakers.

Yep mine did this then gave up completely, so being a tight wad I took it right apart to the circuit board and a resistor fell on the floor.

Soldered it back on and its never flickered since! Worth taking apart imo, what have you got to loose?

I went the tightwad route first too but couldn't see anything obviously wrong with it so had to put my hand in my pocket

where did you guys open it from? i didnt see a panel round the clock which i could remove to see the connection.

So the clock is an isolated connection? Meaning im ok with the rest of the electrics on the dash?

cheers

If you remove the panel that the clock is attached to (it just prises up), you can take off the electrical connector and bend back the plastic tabs to release the clock from the panel.
You need about eight hands to do it
The clock can then just be prised open exposing the circuit board and LED display. No separate bulb though which was what I was hoping for

yeh i managed to lift the panel and take a look at the clock. No loose connection. Have to accept its screwed. Annoyingly i managed to lose one of the buttons (set, hour, or min button)!

Anyone know any good online breakers?
