If you are mildly handy with simple electrics and can use a spanner, with the help of the Scoobynet people, you can fit your own

i would agree the fitting is about 2-3 hrs. The hardest part is actually getting access to the actual sensors and routing the cables safely away from anything hot or moving. I had the sensors connected for me when i had an oil change done.It still took an hour to do that with the car on a ramp, but it was routed well and cable tied correctly.

I mounted my controller underneath my radio in the din slot. Pick up all the wiring points between the subaru main loom and your radio. You should have a block on each end. If for some reason you mess it up its only about a tenner to replace, but it really isnt that hard. Use a volt meter to pick up what wires are live etc with ign off/on, lights on off etc and follow the wiring diagram given in the Defi manual.

I bought my Defi's from an eBayer direct from Japan. I have BF Amber gauges. Boost,Oil pressure and temp. Was about £360 inc sensors. Used an ATI center pod which was exspensive £120 but worth the money, dont use a cheap pod or it will look crap. Use Defi or ATI.
Hope that helps a lil bit and good luck

Do it yourself. It really isn't that hard and you will save a packet.

You can do it yourself with some patience. Took me all day though. See here for a guide

Gauges

You'll need spanners, wires, connectors and cutters/stripping/crimping tools. screw drivers. I also found it useful to buy those little splicing things that let you tap in to wires easily

Scotchlok TYPE wiring connector (bag of 25) - eBay Terminals Cabling, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 28-Sep-07 13:43:15 BST)

I spliced in to the hazard warning light switch for continuous live. The cigarette lighter for ignition live. And you'll have to play around to find a wire that is live when the lights are on. Buy a multimeter to make it easier.

You'll probably also need these from gaugeplace
GAUGEPLACE SUBARU IMPREZA OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ADAPTOR - eBay Subaru, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 04-Oct-07 11:37:39 BST)
GAUGEPLACE SUBARU IMPREZA 3rd CYLINDER OIL TEMP ADAPTOR - eBay Subaru, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 04-Oct-07 11:37:41 BST)

I fitted mine recently. Good sense of satisfaction when you get it done

Tim before you decide on a pod wait till you see mine i think you will like it as it retains the clock and is full genuine carbon fibre

I've got a Zero/sports pod (bought cheap and second hand from a certain "pink-lover" we both know ) but I don't think it looks that good despite lashings of filler-primer and satin black paint, and I've seen a similar carbon fibre zero/sports pod that looks much much better...but I'm yet to see a pod that doesn't still look a bit tacky and Max Power-ish.

The description of the ATI one seems pretty good - but I'll certainly give your pod a butchers before deciding so let me know when its fitted and/or post some piccies

I wasn't keen on the ATI one that I had tbh. Looked quite cheap despite being expensive. Anyway went for the Defi pod from Scoobymania painted to match the Blob interior. Looks really good and almost factory.

Will get some pics up later.
