Notchy gearbox after new clutch fitted??
WFT is going on?? Had my clutch done about a month ago, the gearbox feels really notchy - 1st 2nd & 3rd are the culprits. I thought I'd give the clutch time to bed in before I posted just in case I was being para. Just wondering what this could be - gearbox oil, not put back together right?? if the place was just round the corner I'd be right back with the car, but it's a fair trek, so just wondering if there's anything I can do to check things over? Any info would be top!

Sounds like the clutch is dragging very slightly. May be pedal adjustment, there should only be about 1/2" free play on the pedal, if more than that you may not be completely releasing the clutch. Try being very positive about pushing the pedal to the floor when gear changing to see if that helps. Sometimes I get lazy and don,t push the pedal far enough and wonder whats up until I make the effort.
A worn out clutch driven plate will have less inertia and it may be a nice thick new plate is making itself felt. Give it a bit more time to bed in.

now you mention it, the pedal does have quite a bit of play in it - and the biting point on the clutch is about in the middle of travel ( if you know what I mean). can I adjust it myself, or is it a garage job? I'm not the best with the old spanners, but willing to have a play if it's easy enough??

To adjust the pedal, Have a look at at the clutch pedal. You will see a rod attached with a threaded end & nut. To make any adjustment you would need to undo the clutch res & rod from the pedal then make your adjustment.
