I've fitted one of these.......
![](http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e7/zetecwannabe/DSCN2083.jpg)
to my Newage 04 WRX SL and now the engines/idle is lumpy!
The car had the standard re-circulating dump valve before and now I've fitted the new one I've got 2 pipes left - a large pipe (1.5inch approx wide) from which I had to undo a very hard kinda sprung loaded clip to remove the standard re-circulating DV from (after undoing the 2 bolts from intercooler)and also a smaller pipe.
When I started it up with both pipes disconnected it was lumpy but when I connected the smaller pipe to the gold nozzle you can see in the picture it ran slightly better but the bigger pipe is now not connected to anything!
Can someone point me in the right direction as this is the first thing I fitted to the Scooby myself and now I'm confused....should the large pipe have a bung in it or something and should I connect the smaller pipe to the gold nozzle or not
It didn't come with any instructions as I got it for a good price from Ebay and although I could email the seller now I thought it would be quicker on here with the knowledge you guys have
and I need to get it sorted for the morning as I drive it to work.
Cheers
Graham

What was wrong with the one subaru fitted? stick it back on ebay and buy a proper one(if there is such a thing) or leave the OE one on just as Subaru intended.

'Gains back 7-9 BHP by stopping the turbo ‘stall’ effect of your existing Bosch dump value'
so I thought that it might cure the problem

A VTA dump valve does not give you ANY extra power, it merely helps with the spool up after a gear change.. You'll also notice you might get a little puff of soot from your exhaust after on boost gear changes as the MAF sensor will be metering for the 'dumped' air.

Just take care what you buy of ebay, there is a lotg of crap on there. I very much doubt a DV will add 7 BHP. If your going to fit one then buy a good one like the HKS one. But to be honest the standard one is perfectly good enough. Save your money up and buy a good exhaust system and an air filter instead.

I just don't like how long sometimes the turbo takes to spin up and on roundabouts at times is hair raising waiting for it to kick in, I read the blurb on the adverts and I quote......
'Gains back 7-9 BHP by stopping the turbo ‘stall’ effect of your existing Bosch dump value'
so I thought that it might cure the problem![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)

A lot of the budget ones can make the car a bit hesistant and stuttery on part throttle applications. As above, block the recirc pipe and attach the vacuum hose and bot onto your intercooler. They are the only connections needed.

The smaller pipe that was on the stock dv needs to go on the brass part of that one and the larger pipe that you removed from the stock dv needs to be bunged up with a 32mm bung and you will need a jubilee clip to secure it . It should of come with it ..... If you haven't bunged that hole you won't get far when you put your foot down.
Tbh I would stick with your stock dv or like above buy a good one like Hks as you will most likely get a air leak with that one

Listen to this guy.
And don't listen to marketing bollocks.
Spend money on something that works, rather than something that sounds like the handbrake on a 12tonner
