Default HOW QUICK???

Evening all just a quickie does anyone know how quick a Audi s3 is as a guy who works with me has just bought one and he wants to go for a play and reackons it will blow my Scooby all over the road (mine is running over 300 bhp) what do you guys reackon, Will probably have a go anyway but would like to know what i'd be up against. Not one for racing normally but really want to wipe his stupid grin off his face.(And before anyone says it will be on our way home from work on a bypass in the early hours of the morning 3.00am).

If its one of the older one then I think it was 225 bhp as standard
If its the newer one then there 265 bhp standard
Either way I still think a scooby would be the quicker of the two

Don't know about S3 but a while ago had similar conversation with someone with a 3.2 (V6?) Audi TT. Solved issue by looking up his 0-100 time in Autocar. Audi takes 17.2 and Blob Sti PPP takes 12.2 and I've had it remapped since. Absolutely no contest.

You'll whoop him, I raced the 225bhp version with mine and he was nowhere to be seen. They are heavy cars as well, same engine as the TT, 1.8T 225bhp.

Can't say about the new S3, but my mate has the older version and he aint even close to my newage STi running about 300bhp. If your in a classic running this kind of power you'll wipe the floor with him.

I'm also pretty sure there were two different power outputs on the older S3's 210bhp and 225bhp.

Dont you all be so sure.... Remapping these transforms them to a pretty quick car - whether it would keep with a 300bhp Classic remains to be seen but one of our members had one (S3) running 270 ish and he had no probs keeing up with newage STi PPP's on runs out.

Standard they are nippy - remapped bloody quick

My mate has a standard S3 1.8t 225 (The early ones were 210bhp) and my focus RS (270bhp) leaves him for dead. They are heavy bulky cars and even when tuned they arent that fast particularly in the twisties.
So a 300bhp Scooby would have no trouble atall.

Revo Technik box on an FSi 2.0 T in the new S3 will take it to 300BHP 310 ft/lbs
Old shape with the S3 with the 1.8 T will get 260 BHP 265 ft/lbs

scoobies dont like high speeds the S3 does you dont say what type of impreza you have big difference between a 300 bhp uk and a 300 bhp sti for example,my mates s3 and leon cupra (same engine etc) cant catch mine off the mark but give them open road they will reel me in due to the close ratio box on my car but thats just at really silly speeds

If this is any help, my next car will either be an s3 or an impreza, would of definitely been a scooby if the 08 model hadnt changed to look like a proton, but anyway, I took a wrx ppp out about 20 minutes before the s3,

s3 is very smooth (like my current audi) running 265 and the wrx ppp was at 275 (i think the sales guy said) nothing to choose,

most people have got 310bhp out of the new s3 with just a chip, revo, giac, apr, bluefin etc...

I think it will be close and im not sure who i want to win

Depends whether its an old S3 or new, in my old Civic Type R I managed to do an old S3 whislt rolling from 30 onwards, it also seemed to out handle it. Obviously the new S3 with 265bhp would destroy a CTR now. As they are still pretty heavy cars I'd say in a straight drag your Scoob will still do it and possibly significantly, obviously if you throw in some twisties then it would be goodnight vienna.

A mate of mine at work has an Audi S3 210bhp. I have got a standard Impreza Turbo 2000 214bhp. One night on the way home we ended up next to each other at traffic lights on a 70mph limit stretch of dual carriage way. He always wanted to find out how his Audi would go against an Impreza and this was the chance. Lights went to green and off we both went. To be honest I was expecting much more of a challenge as by the short time I got to 70mph he was about 3-4 car lengths behind me.
So based upon this if you have 300bhp in a Classic then if the S3 is standard you will not have a problem with it. Looking forward to hearing the result of this one

Hey guys thought I would post the outcome for those of you that are intrested sorry its been a few days doing overtime and all that. Well the outcome only 1 really lights turned green we both gunned it and when I looked over my shoulder to see where he was (as I changed gear) expecting him to be quite close S**t he was about 7-8 car lengths at least behind me and he hasn't spoken or even looked at me since, So 1-0 to the Scooby me thinks.

Evo mag review of the 225 version S3:

Audi S3 quattro | evo Car Reviews | Car Reviews | evo

Seem to recall that the RB5 trounced the S3 in an Evo mag review many years ago, standard car vs standard car, so above result is no surprise to me.
