Hey! What's this guy doing posting for a competitor BBS?
I mean competition's fair but do you know that there's a post on Scoobycity at the moment that suggests anyone with identities on each board should put a link back to Scoobycity at the end of any Scoobynet post.
Had a look earlier, the board sucks basically. Most of the posts are old and of the ilk:
What's your favourite colour?
Scariest moment?
First to 100 posts? (not 10,000 which IS cool
)
Plus the WebAdmin seems to have a limited grasp of spelling, punctuation or grammar. By all means have a look, some of the praise posts are very funny as they are all by site admins, moderators and the site owner (LOL)
But in the end:

We have a few members that are on this board. considering we have only been running since saturday and our bbs was down we were just letting people know we are back online
As you can see we are all registered on here aswell so dont go slagging us off

you obviously dont know anything about competition....
competition involves for a start, like Miggs said all users including all moderators are regular scoobynet users also..
The site was started purely because we all agreed that there is little that goes on in the way of car clubs in east anglia. Admitadly scoobynet caters for the whole counrty, however meets are always arranged miles away from here, we end up having to travel 100-200 miles to meets..
Scoobynet is also highly populated, we were just trying to encourage east anglian members to use our foum and take part in our meets..
we do not discourage people who visit our site to visit scoobynet, in fact you'll find we plug the site very highly, and use the quote "original and still the best" as used by scoobynet on our links page...
we have a good understanding with the moderators of scoobynet, they too are using our board..
I cant deny things are a little slow at the moment, but we only have 30 registered users, and we have had no fewer than 700 hits since the BBS went on line, (3 days ago) and its taken us a whole month to get that many before, and those are html page hits not forum hits !

Been and had a look at the site. Looks rather nice. Just joined up. It doesn't give the impression that it's competing with Scoobynet.

That still doesn't explain why you have a posting on your forum with this in :

Scoobycity is therefore using Scoobynet (a site with a commercial element) to promote it's own site.
People like me have to pay for that kind of privilege by way of banner advertising.
Scoobycity is absolutely miniscule compared to Scoobynet, so I don't see Scoobycity "strengthening" Scoobynet, as most assistance will be one way (i.e in favour of Scoobycity).
I don't have a problem with Scooby fan sites, but I think it's rich to ask people to promote it free and easily on the back of Scoobynets hard earned success.
And as for "we were just letting people know we are back online", that's a load of crap. If you wanted your handful of users to know, you'd E-mail them. A shabbily disguised form of promotion that I've seen done before, and done better.

Scoobycity has no intention of competing with Scoobynet or the sidc come to that. It's a site provided free of charge for east anglian people (or in other words the moderators pay for it). Complaining about a post for site for Subaru owners and fans with no comercial gain can only put someone in a bad light when they come from a comercial standpiont.
Airing your views in public first shows poor business ethics. Who's to say that if you would have contacted us first we wouldn't have supported what ever company you come from?
We have had many good compliments from many scoobynet members and moderators. We have also had a couple of bad comments from ignorant people from a an established club who obviously think we are in competition with them. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. They may want to concern themselves with what thay can bring to their members and not looking over their shoulders. Many of us are members of other clubs we charged membership.
We do all of this free, in our own time and given the BBS has been running only a few days I believe we do a good job. We state on the www.scoobycity.co.uk site that we know that scoobynet is the best.
Please email myself or any of the other moderators of scoobycity if you have any questions or post on our bbs.
