just posted a picture of my car and chassis plate on the ra site to find out it isnt a ra after all it is a sti ver 2 555 does anyone have any info on this model and anything else i should know about it
so far it seems to be 275 ps red top engine with roof vent no stickers though have got hold of the original sales brochure in native tongue (japanese) so cant make much out on it at all
if it is a limited edition is there a plate on it anywhere to say so?

Stickers were optional. I quite like Sport Blue.

Nope - they look very similar, and it would seem they're quite often confused. 555 doesn't have DCCD, but does have electric windows, rear wash/wipe, electric aerial and, no doubt, other bits & pieces that I've forgotten.

Both cars have the roof vent, I/C water spray, and no ABS.

Take a look at:
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...yesterday.html

You've already seen:
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...fo-needed.html
...which includes much the same info - what else would you like to know?

Mine has a Type-RA sticker on the back, which I know for a fact came off Ebay and isn't original. It also has the cartoonish "WRX" sticker, which is original, and a white "STI" sticker next to it which looks like a rather naff afterthought but is actually original too.

I also have the big, white commemorative WRC sticker on the boot - not sure if that's original or not.

There is no numbered plaque on the 555, only on the RA. Pity.

What's the story on the wheels?

The brochure for the 555 shows it as having 8 spoke wheels, which are what I have on my car - yet I've seen quite a few 555's around with 5 spoke wheels like yours. Were the 8 spoke wheels an option, or just hard to replace if they get damaged?

wrong wheels. wrong spoiler too...same ratio ra box but without the dccd...side by side there are practically no differences...your car has 555 flaps or should have. nowt wrong with it, i love em !

I do indeed have the 555 flaps - it's just that I've seen quite a few 555's with the 'wrong' wheels, so I wondered if they were an option.

spoiler yeah it is wrong however it was better than the missing one it had. (just had 4 or 5 holes in it when it arrived) i have one of the mud flaps only arrived like that so i need another pair and as for the wheels the sport wagon had the 5 spokes in the brochure and the 8 spokes were optional we put the spoiler on it because we thought it was an RA and it probably would not of had one so we didnt think it was a problem.
i am lucky i spose it does not have some dodgy old silver ones on it lol

what is the value of one of these things compared with say a 95 sti?
ball park?
please
it has been in the country for 6 months now
arc induction kit and bov
standard new sti exhaust

as it stands now it owes me £2560 to where it is now however it is instantly pressurising the expansion tank and has just split it however this was on a 2 mile run and has not overheated at all just lost a little bit of coolant, so i need to know whether it is worth repairing if it is a head gasket i have had a quote of 800 + vat to do the gaskets properly engine out with heads skimmed and poss block skim.
other alternative is to sell it on as is or break as bit peeved as it is my first impreza and so far is not well
any help would be great
thanks
dave
ps i am gonna ring dave at api to go over my options in the morn finger crossed
