I'm looking for a dump valve for my MY07 WRX. Don't want a whoosh sounding one, looking for one that is waste gate chatter type noise?
Friend said a blitz one does that but I had a Blitz Super sound on my Sti and that whooshed ?
Any ideas anyone ?

Can open! Worms everywhere..... Whilst remote wastegates arent silent, the noise that most people attribute to 'wastegate chatter' is actually the sound made by the turbocharger stalling. Vent to atmosphere air bypass valves make a noise, but its nothing like this. Most turbocharged competition engines dont have one of any description, in my experience.

Anti Lag will get you noises similar, though don't expect your turbo to last too long

Yes, no bypass valve and full-on AL will see it last about 3,000 miles!

I know they are available without antilag but don't kow who makes them. followed an Evo today and that had it and no anti lag ??

Try a HKS Super SQV sequential blow off valve, had this on my old car, makes a nice rally style chirp when venting.

If such a pointless item is available; why? Why fit something that serves no purpose and makes a noise pretening to be something else?

I find that at lower boost my Turbosmart Supersonic chatters nicely but like Simon said, can open..

I get the chatter when i have the anti lag on, and my god does it sound sweet
BTW my turbo is still in good nick even after all the AL abuse it gets

My forge bov does a little chatter or flutter when shifting at around 3k-4.5k and a nice small woosh after that.
had the new type HKS and they dont make this noise, the older ones should do. the forge is much quieter than the hks ssqv

I wish I could describe the noise I'm looking for, its easy to describe a whoosh but a whistle that changes pitch is sort of what I want.

Antilag will get you pops and bangs and not the so called waste gate chatter, surge, stall etc.

The wastegate is what stops the turbo from commiting suicide (it allows the exhaust gases to bypass the turbo) and the dump valve is what relieves the pressure in the inlet when the throttle is closed.
