My tracker is up for renewal and i'm considering not renewing it (£150 for the year), ive got a 2002 ppp bugeye wrx (standard looking) and to be honest its been fine up until now and i live in a fairly safe area. I'm with Highways through Keith Michaels and i've just been told its not a condition of my policy which is another reason for not renewing. I've read so many stories on here about peoples car's being stolen and the thieving scum just rip the tracker out and drive off.
What do you think, worth it or not?

One thing I've always wondered is that even though there is no active subscription, the hardware is still in place and if the car was stolen could you stump up the years subscription and have the tracker activated?

Thats a thought, dont know what they'd say if you activated it and then told them it'd been stolen on the same day

Trackers in my opinion are just another device, not 100% effective but still a hurdle to jump when stealing a car.
When they are factory fitted like the sti ones, I would guess that most theives know this and as such will try and disable it first. This would be a hassle. When fitted as an aftermarket on say a 1.2 clio, I would guess it may be more effective.
I have always re-newed my subs and also have 'other devices' installed that are not factory fitted just to make life extra hard for the theives.

I would want my car back. You could easy get it serviced if you did get it back. Obviously this is providing it aint too bad. A lot of these cars are stolen to sell on so probably wouldn't be the victim of a joy ride.
I personally like trackers. An extra deterrent and piece of mind.
