no such thing im afraid, some folk blow things at 3k launches where as i have launched many times at full revs and done hee haw to mine except for a bad smell lol,but if your worried do not do full bore launches, feed the power in progressively and make sure the clutch is up before stamping on the pedal, thats advice i was given a few years ago at a 0-60 challenge thing.

there is only one way to launch.....hard.

Revving to around 5k and dumping clutch

Mine took plenty of abuse at sub 300 power levels without problem.

Thumbs up

I was running at the pod on sunday in my 96 sti ra .1st time I have taken the car down the 1/4 mile and was supprised how well she performed against the bigger £££ motors there

1st run 12.93 sec

2nd run 12.70 sec

3rd run 12.92 sec

The car is completely standard bar decat dpipe and apexi titanium cat back zorst .

3.5k rpm launch with dccd up two notches and set to open whem hitting 2nd gear.

Sandly I have to sell the car due to the baby on the way cos with a few mods ie bigger turbo and front mount could pos get into low 12's.Cracking day but the traffic trying to leave the event was madness

Havent got a proper figure for last year. Was still on the top mount, standard fuel pump and 2.5" exhaust.

Did you change up into 5th? I hadn't raced mine before JapShow Finale last year, my times were;

Run 1
14.02s @ 100.66mph

Run 2
14.31s @ 99.32mph

Run 3
14.42s @ 100.03mph

I leave it in 4th over the finish, nearly on the rev limiter.

That's a bloody fast time for a standard scoob! You're in the standard WR1 territory Can't wait to take mine on the strip one day.

That said my old Jap Type R was pretty quick and all I had on it was uprated filter and DV...that was running round the 300 brake.

Ive been pod a few times this year and had some different times

as a comparison a took my 2ltr Vectra down and got 1st 15.8 2,15.433 3, 15.458
Then I took the Impreza down, its a JDM with a Z4 ecu and decat`d,

1st 13.890 60ft 2.20 reaction 0.5371
2nd 13.540 60ft 2.02 reaction 0.787 (yes I was asleep)
3rd 13.99 60ft 2.52 reaction 0.4619 (I struggled to get 3rd on this run)

Ive since fitted good tyres, Eibachs and AGX shocks, It has Adjustable ARB and drop links, Im hoping to get better launches/more grip now.

From this Car Stats - Calculator

I should be getting about a 13/13.2 1/4 so it has to be down to the driver,

Ive been watching the thread for tips myself for the next RWYB day, 4k and foot off will be my 1st attempt me thinks.
