Probably been asked a fare few times on here but now it's my turn

Just after before xmas we should be settled in our new house and i'll have about 10K to spend on another scoob.

I've had 2 WRX classics so i am tempted to go for one of the best classic shapes ie Type R or P1

BUT

My head is telling me to get the newest car i can afford.I don't want to lose the rawness of the classic but i don't want to have to worry about engines going etc as this car will have to last me a good few years without me spending cash on unless it's for servicing/mods etc.

I went to view an 04 Blobeye STI near me for 10,495 BUT it had 97000 on the clock not into that.

I've seen 03 plate Bugeye STI both with PPP and without in my price bracket.

Also i've seen 05 plate Blobeye WRX's with PPP for 10K.

I really do want a special model ie an STI but would the likes of a Blobeye with PPP be no match for the STI?? Ideally i want a slightly modded car aslo so i don't have to shell out for a nice exhaust or gauges etc.

Don't want to make the wrong choice.

By the sounds of it, you could well be disappointed with a blob wrx.

My money would go to a Blob STi if you can find one for 10k ish, or then, a Type R.

Yeah Blobeye STI would be perfect but i doubt i would get a low ish mileage one thats been looked after for 10k??

By the way it has to be black or blue for the right car.

New 3" system and GT spec headers.

10 month MOT - new tyres and brakes.

Ive not adverised it on here but i had it on ebay last month.

You will have plenty change out of your 10K

i just brough a pretty clean 2004 WRX for 10k... well ok, nearer 11, but only has 16k on the clock..... there are definately some out there for 10k.

Ive always been one to go for the newest / cleanest / low mileage car I can afford, rather than getting a older one..........

but you pays your money...........

For 10k I would go for Limited Edition such as a Type-R.

You could get WRX blob, but it would just be a WRX Blob.. (and that's coming from a WRX Blob owner!)

If you can save another grand or there abouts, you could pick up a well looked after MY03 Blob STi with around 50K on the clock. If you like the Bugs then you can probably pick up a STi with similar miles and condition for about £2K cheaper.

If you want better reliability then IMHO a newage probably makes more sense.

Yeah it does need to be reliable.Every day car also not just a workhorse.

I would rather have the Blob rather than the Bug also so if i could get an STI with low ish mileage..50 is ok then i'd be happy.

If I had £10k I would be looking to a well looked after classic. You usually need £13k onwards for a decent newage... and on cosmetics only the hawkeye lives up to the classic IMHO and for those you need at least £17k. Bugs are for people who can't afford a blobeye and want a car that is less than 10 years old.

Still undecided but i've got a few months to think i suppose.I still like the thought of a P1 but then again a Type R is cheaper I don;t really mind the oldness of a classic as long as it's been looked after and has had a load of essential work done ie clutch..gearbox rebuild...engine rebuild.

Do they have the same gearbox ratio's?? I've heard the Type R becomes a real drag on long journeys and my old WRX's used to annoy the hell out of me..sitting at 4.5K revs at 80mph.

If you can, get a drive in a Blobeye Sti and a WRX PPP. I've got an '05 PPP. For me it was a more confortable ride (less harsh) and with 5 gears as apposed to 6 I found it easier 'around town'. The power's the same (265 bhp) but with the PPP you get better 0-60 and mid range figures and better economy.

Thanks for that mikey! It's good to hear from somone that has driven both.

I don't think i would get bored etc of a WRX with PPP but so many people say nothing is like an STI and i don't want to miss this chance to get one.

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but I've heard people mention the bugeye OR the blobeye......but I always thought they were the same thing!??!? lol. I always thought it was classic, then bug or blob (same thing), then 'newage', then hawkeye? But now I'm guessing it's classic, then bugeye, then blobeye, then hawkeye?? But I also heard someone mention 'newage' aswell as blob & bug??? I'm so confuseddddd!!!! lol

The STI is the better place to start modding, but a fully messed with WRX is as good, all "newage" cars are a bit better built, and the engines (STI) are good for 400+ bhp with lots of bolt-on mods....

U choose, I loved my classic but the heavy bomber is more awesome now....
