I no longer have a Subaru, so my answer is a Skoda Fabia vRS.
£110 tax, Sub £300 insurance, possible 65mpg, 312 lb/ft, 30-70 in 5s and ugly, boring and characterless.
Given free choice, Audi R8, Lambo Gallardo, F430, Cayman, V8 Vantage, RS6 (new V10), M5 etc.
Realistically, EvoX, M-Coupe, 350Z, older RS4.

I'm with corradoboy, skoda vrs (0ctavia) for me
I was slightly less sensible and went for the petrol version, still running her in but doesn't feel any slower than my old uk turbo.

Daihatsu YRV Turbo! 1.3 130BHP 0-6- 8.1 secs. Group 8 insurance, and £140 a year road tax with 30-40MPG. Currently have one in yellow (I know ). But what a fun car . Even has a Steer shift function to make you go quicker . Currently using one as an everyday run-a-bout.

I almost bought an E46 M3 before the Scoob, so I guess I'd have one of them.
The new Civic Type R was also in the running for a while, but I realises that I didn't want a car I'd have to thrash the **** off everywhere.
Money no object, a Gallardo Superleggera, or a Porsche 911 GT2....thank you very kindly.....all donations very much appreciated.

From: Markyate.Imprezas owned:-wrx-sti5typeR-p1-uk22b-modded my00. Amongst others!
I have an Impreza turbo that cost £180 a year tax . I won't suffer any noticable depreciation compared to a £300 tax Impreza and it'll go faster than 99% of production models

For me it would be another FD RX7. There bloody quick, handle loads better than a scooby, cheeper to tax since you can class it as a 1.3 (£110 for the year), and I still dont think there is a better looking car on the road.
