Any benifit to hitting rev limiter?
My car's a JDM version so 8k rev limit. Peak power (bhp) is 6800rpm so I always change up here latest. Shift light set here too. What do you think?

No no real advantage, but I have used the high end to save a gear change mid corner or manouver
Over taking or on track I find the UK 3-6Kpm very restrictive with the 6 speed box short ratios. Probably completely fine on a 5 speed box with longer ratio's.
IMHO

Depends on the shape of the power curve. If it's "even", like a statistical distribution, centred, on peak power, I'd tend to rev past it to ensure I picked the next gear at a higher point. Making as much use of the lower gears as possible.
For pure, bloody minded acceleration (or drag racing), stay in lower gears as long as you can without clipping the limiter. Subject to slotting the next gear and it being less than peak BHP.
You need to make maximum use of your multiplier i.e. your gearbox.

as i have the standard td04 turbo on my my99, i notice and have been told it runs out of puff after about 5k revs, more noticeable in 3th and above (rarely gets that high in those gears anyways).
il let it hit about 6.5k in 1st and second gears, but never let it bounce off 7k (rev limiter) in any gear. im too worried hitting 7000rpm means you press the red button and your engine will drop out.

Erm, i dont really pay that much attention to my rev limiter, i usually change gear when i feel the power droping off, ill watch out and see when i do tho.
However, i have hit it b4, and i lit my rear view mirror up with a massive flame!

Thanks for replies guys. Only good thing that I can think of is that the sound gets better as the revs rise (my view & that of others is that it sounds race car ish) so holding a gear to the limiter increases the Grin Factor a shade

Full decat helps
Back to the original question though, there's no real need to hit it, change a little earlier to put you right back in the centre of the power band Worth trying it out to make sure it works though
