That was the most unintentionally funny thing I've seen today..
I gather you get one in every box of cornflakes.
Seriously though.. yes.. there are shed loads (very very large sheds) of them unsold by Subaru.
Whatever you do.. don't pay list price (or even lots less than list)

I'd like to read about one actual case of someone actually buying a new (not ex-demo) P1 from a dealer at a discount. Or paying list but getting a really favourable price for p/x of a Scooby. There's a lot of talk but I haven't seen anyone on this BBS saying "I got one for 28K" or whatever.

DavidG,
I'm not going to divulge the final price at the moment, as the deal is still in the process of being finalised. Suffice it to say that I've negotiated a substantial discount on the car.
This is with no part-ex, paying cash (or at least my companies leasing firm is).
Once I've signed on the dotted line, then I'd be more than happy to say how much I paid, and to which dealer.
If you are at all interested in getting a P1, then haggle, as there is quite a large margin on the car, and most dealers want shot of them.
Andy.

PSLewis,
What is your problem? You really are Mr "slag off the P1 at any opportunity". Are you sure you're not just bitter because you don't have one yourself?
And your pricing estimates are total cr**. I'm not in the market for one, but would be off down to the dealers well before they were selling them for £22K new.
So why not try to contribute something constructive for a change?
Gary.

I've been to my local dealer and they will not reduce the price of a P1, no matter how hard I push. They are insisting that the demo car will be sold at the new price. Ha ha ha!
Whats more they will only give me 9k for my MY98 scooby. They are having a laugh!
I am truely P****D with Scooby dealers they are just out to rip you off.
Anyone know of a scooby dealer who gives a fair trade in price?

collier - maybe I DO have one !! and am so pigged off at Subaru pissing all over people who bought one - Have you tried getting a STRAIGHT cash deal on yours my man and see how much Mr Sccoby dealer wants to give you!!!
its a different world - remember that monkeys' could sell scoobies up until the flood of them 7 months ago!! NOW they need to work for a living and they cant hack it - so still want their huge margins.
You go and get a CASH price on your P1 - we will see if it beats the offer on mine -
THEN tell me not to be bitter!!!!
So go on, Collier, and post back who and where they offered you diddly squat cos thats what you will get - go and grow up - the bubble has burst and you and many others are holding an expensive 2 door saloon ( a great one yes - but still a 2 door saloon)
Rant over - back to you collier
Thanks Suntit!!! good fun this aint it?
some people have their heads so far up their a4ses they cant see whats going on!! ooops delete that thats naughty
oh sod it its true - it needs to be said
Pete

You get for a car whatever market forces dictate. I didn't buy my MY00 as an investment, but to drive it and have fun with it. That's what i'm having and when I come to sell it I will get whatever it is worth at that time. End of story.
Everyone wanted new car prices to come down, they have (to a certain extent), was everybody stupid enough to think it would not affect the residuals of used cars???

Mr Lewis
I think you will find that Mr Collier like myself does not own a P1. In fact like myself I dont think he owns a Scooby, but could be wrong.
His point if I read my his post correctly is that if you could buy a P1 brand new for even 22k (not your silly 20k) then he'd get one.
My P1 went 21 days ago for £26,750 to a Scooby main dealer who I think has now sold it.
Remember it is a free world you dont have to spend 31k on a car if you dont want to. How about having a go at Ralliart as well for charging 31k for a car thats not even got full type approval let alone Trackstar and CaT One alarm as std. If they (IM) got their marketing wrong (read supply and demand) and now have to sell at a lower price so what. At least its an early January sale. Also open your eyes and see that ALL car manufacturers have lowered prices in the past few months. My S4 costs 41k brand new but with a couple of months on the clock I picked it up for 31k. Maybe ask the owner that bought it first about being ripped off.
Jonathan
ps if you do find a P1 thats straight and lowish milage that I can buy for 20k before April next year please let me know as I'll get one as a weekend runabout.

P1's are not crap!
i've only had mine 30 hours and it is worth every penny.
every car depreciates not just P1's
an 8 month old uk turbo is already £7k down
on its new price.
the new one is pig ugly,i've got the best of the old and three years warranty is worth the extra thousands.

PSLewis,
Jonathon is correct, I don't own a scooby any more.
If YOU have a P1 you wish to sell and can't get a good price off a subaru dealer, then go and sell privately if you think you can get more. Or might YOU have to work for a living to do this?
It was pretty plain the direction the car market was heading in 12-18 months ago, well before any P1s were sold. If you bought a P1 expecting some rock-solid investment, rather than a fun car to enjoy, then you've been a fool, and should be angry at yourself, and not at subaru dealers.
Oh, and I stopped calling people by their surnames shortly after leaving school. Perhaps given this and the other rubbish/offensive material in your post, it's you who ought to grow up.
Regards,
Gary.
