4 (or 5?) door P1
#1
Considering that there are unsold P1s, I wonder if there are any people who, like me, would buy one except for the fact that they only have 2 doors!
Or put it another way, would P1 owners have still bought theirs if it had more than 2 doors?
Who is driving this strange 2-door philosophy? Is it the manufacturer or the customer?

If the standard Scooby came in Two doors then I would have had one of those - I think 2 doors looks loads better!
I'll probably be glad that I've got the 4 door though 'cos in a couple of years there's bound to be a few extra bodies to ship about

Ignoring the fact that I'd not be able to afford a P1....
I'm like barge, in that was told we needed a car with four doors and hatchback, so as to encompas children and doggie, hence the reason I got the black beast.
If I'd had the money and there was a 5 door P1 (STi v6 Wagon? ) then I'd probably have gone for it.
Pity they did not decide to do a P1 saloon or Wagon, think it would have sold, especially the wagon, given the current trend for fast estates, eg; Audi RS4, Volvo V70R, etc..

You could always get an STI VII Wagon when they are available (if they arn't already!). This would be about P1 Performance (as the P1 is just really an STI) and you could always have a little "play" with it to make it even better - It'll be loads cheaper into the bargin as well....
I have a small cheap town car to cater for the "must have 4 doors" need, like I said, if they did 2 door standard cars, I would have got one of those!

If you've got small kids, two doors is actually better as it's easier to put seatbelts on, etc. because you do it from 'in front' rather than 'alongside'.
I'm sure I once heard that the two-door has less torsional rigidity than the four-door, due to that gaping hole in the side.

I can think of something else that is easlier in two door cars that you can from infront
But seriously would agree with the get a STI its cheaper comments, especially if you are going to mod it... and are not after the P1's look-n-feel..

A car would have to be seriously good (a P1 is not good enough !) for me to buy it if it has less doors than seats.
I like the practicality, if you're into looks maybe a 1.9 BMW Z3 would be a better bet

The two doors is one thing that did put me off the P1 a bit, having to get the kids in and out through the front would be a pain.
Then again, I didn't realise the RB5 didn't have split/fold seats until I tried to use them. How am I going to get a Christmas tree home now?!

A 5-Door P1 wagon would sell em better than a tight fisted 2 door!!
A Calibra looks good with 2 doors - most coupes do - but NOT saloons - sorry
As has been said when the faster Impreza appears on these shores in about 18 months - the P1 will look rather silly (especially at the stupid £30K some paid) I will get into trouble again from all those who love the P1 I love it too - but for gods sake its way too expensive for what you get!!

Nearly there Prodrive. Just one more teensie door and it'll be perfect.
BTW, New shape 5 door looks much better than new shape 4 door IMHO (and I do think that the 4 door old shape looks better than the 5 door, but practicality got the better of me)
But the STI VI wagon in yellow looks the danglies.
