This is why I don't buy the Sun Its pretty damn clear that chap had no idea what he was talking about. At the start of the article he talks about the STI, and then goes on to talk about a WRX. Which is it?
I will wait for more educated journos to provide me with a good review

It seems all the journos so far say the STi is a great drive, but is it enough to make up for the awful looks? I quite liked the STi from some angles (as above), but having watched a vid on YouTube showing them ragging round a track, I don't think they look good at all. I doubt anyone would look twice if one went past. I know that shouldn't matter, unless you're a poseur, but it does.
As someone has said before; there's no way I'd consider a WRX (I'm a fan of the newage WRX), but would go for an STi. Now I'm not so sure.
Unless I can get an EU import for 21-22K, then I don't think I'll bother.

just one small problem, the sun states 'Subaru engineers have worked their magic on the 2.5litre Boxer engine to boost the power to 300PS for the first time' only thing is the car reviewed is the same as in jap performance and that's a 2 litre.
the 2.5 isn't released yet
god, am i actually starting to show an interest in the Limpreza?

Hold on a minute, that review had some faults in there. From what I gather from other reviews including Top Gear, the reporters were let loose on the jap model, on the Fuji track so how is the sun reporter stating:
Wrong statement to make, confusing the mild WRX for the STi
I am pretty sure the jap car is a 2.0 litre as per the review by Top Gear
So they obviously don't know anything about Impreza's but I think that last comment is a fair point; when the car is out in the masses, hitting the rally stages (and hopefully making points and winning a few) the punters will start to roll in - I just hope that it's existing scooby owners and not Barry from down the road who wants to upgrade his Vauxhall Chavastra.
Those laps told me everything I need to know about the WRX"
Subaru engineers have worked their magic on the 2.5litre Boxer engine to boost the power to 300PS for the first time
I’m sure the average Scooby die-hard won’t give a monkey’s about the quality of the plastics, he’ll just be relieved and exhilarated that Subaru have produced a real Impreza worthy of the WRX badge.

I recon the STI will look good IN THE FLESH..
The Hawkeye looked all wrong from the pics, yet the first time I saw one for real at Litcho's looked very nice. Most of the 2 dozen or so other scoob owners there that day (new dyno open day) thought the same. I now think the Hawkeye is a very nice looker, so I'm going to reserve final judgement until I see an STI in the flesh.
As someone recently said, if Subaru suddenly become competitive in the WRC will you still think a hatch is wrong..? I know I won't..

An old proverb says "Don't knock it till you've tried it". To peeps are prejudging the STi before they have seen the STi in the flesh let alone driven it
I've bought all my Scoobs because the way it drove and not to have a picture next to it

Ive read 10+ Sti reviews in Newpapers, Car Mags and internet which they have ranged from complete rubbish to utterly brilliant best handling Subaru to date.
So which ones right, they can't all be right !!!
Hence not keen on opinionated reviews, it's about how my lardy butt feels in the seat and not some "Clarkson" wannabe reporter
Although I do like to see the track comparison Times from Bedford Autodrome or Top gear. They both have prevoius models best times recorded
When I try it and ifd I find it's Sh1te, I'll flame it as much as anyone has done on here
IMHO

MSN have a good review. Quite positive, slates the cabin plastics but likes the layout.
Also says they'd hope for more torque from the 2.5 as the 2.0 is a bit lacking.
