Default Alfa to Scooby

Hi Scoobynet users

Today I officially say goodbye to the addiction that has emptied my wallet, left me stranded on the hard shoulder many a time and broken my heart over and over. My Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 is no longer. I will miss her...

BUT!!!
Today is a new beginning; I have decided the Subaru Impreza Estate is the way forward for me! Now the reason I am in your forum is for some advice. What I'm looking for is an Impreza Estate 2.0 WRX, service history with no after market upgrades, but I only have around 4k to spend due to my Alfa being worth a big fat ZERO. So far I have been looking at Imports some from MVI Services. These seem to a good option on my budget but I have no idea the implications of owning an import. I know the BHP is higher, they don't come with an alarm and insurance is going to cost me around £650!! That's about it.

If you have any advice, personally experiences (relating to above) I would be grateful for your comments.

Thanks in advance, Scooby Newby

RIP 156.

Man, that's harsh!

I'm hoping beacuse I need the estate for the boot that I'm more unlikely to get a thrashed engine.

Do you know of any tests I should be doing during a test drive?

Bit strange thinkin that as its a wagon its not going to be thrashed as much??

personally the boots i dont think are that big, only gains in height really but the saloon feels longer, i might be wrong though

just make sure it boosts up ok, check for mayo in the oil cap as head gaskets are a pain! gear change is ok,

accident damage too!

Just thought that the Boy Racer that I used to be wouldn't be interested in the estates?

Anything to check on the turbo?

I'm looking for a second car soon and I've always fancied an Alfa. Guy at work has had a few and I love the styling, especially the interiors.

Will heart rule head and get me an Alfa instead of a desiel Focus? I hope so
