Default jubilee clips...

bit confused on this one. got an 8 piece silicone hose (coolant) set and im gonna fit em today with my mate while he changes the gearbox oil.

need to pop to halfrauds and pick up replacements clips.

but as the pipes are different diameters, im unsure of how to get the right size hose clips.

do i just measure the diameter of each pipe and get two clips (one for each end of each pipe - 16), or do i need to get them slightly smaller in diameter of the pipes for a tight fit?

can someone help me on this asap as im booked in at my mates garage at 12.30pm this arvo.

thankyou in advance guys/girls

andy

p.s. just measured the hoses, and i need clips to fit the following...

3x 16mm (5/8") - 6 clips
1x 22mm (7/8") - 2 clips
2x 28mm (1 1/8") - 4 clips
2x 45mm (1 3/4") - 4 clips

Jubilee clips are adjustable and come in many sizes e.g.

1A = 22-30mm
1 = 25-35mm
2A = 35-50mm

I would take the hoses with you and make sure that the clip can slide over the hose and has a range of adjustment larger and smaller. This is because sometimes when you have fitted the silicon hose it has been forced into a larger diameter by the pipe it has been fitted to. Obviously also buy a few spare sizes for the unexpected.

ah thanks for clearing that up. so assuming that the clips are adjustable by around 10mm each, get one that adjusts up and down. im kinda following now. i was under the impression that they didnt/dont have much tolerance regards adjustments, hence the daft first question.

hose clips on the car now are fine, but id like shiney new ones for my hose kit. so if any dont fit properly, il use whats on the car and get different sizes afterwards. il save my reciept too, so i can swap any that dont fit.

cheers

Why not wait a while and order stainless ones?
