Have I Just Bought The Most Expensive Scooby Juice In The UK??
I was in Leicester today and running a bit low on Fuel.
Hung on for a bit cos, I remembered where there was a Shell for the nice stuff.
It's now a BP, Fair enough Ultimate it was then.
F*****G Ultimate, it certainly was, Ultimately £1.159 a Poxy Litre!!
That's £5.27 a Gallon!!!
WTF is going on??
I expect you London Scoooby Drivers are paying that kind of money, but in Leicester FFS?
Any One paying more for Super??
Regards

London petrol is surprisingly cheap, apart from the one in Sloane Avenue that was £1.20 per litre for normal unleaded BEFORE the recent price rises.

And for Ultimate too From what I've heard about that petrol, it would have been better for the car, and your wallet, had you just had a wee into the tank!

how much longer can we put up with these prices or the rate of tax on our petrol. i would like to see the blockades in force again show the government that we are not happy with the current situation.
Does anyone else agree that something has to be done. In the last month the cost of filling my car has risin 7 pound for full tank. And compared with two months ago the petrol has risin 16pence per litre.

This is why I'm seriously considering getting a Diesel for my next car.
I can afford to keep the Scoob, but just getting sick of paying £45-£50 a week just getting to work and back.

fuel
Are u seriously sitting there justifing the price of petrol, yes the price per barrel may have risen but it has risin all over the world. Yet we still pay the most for petrol anywhere in the world. do you think it is right that we pay 67% tax on our fuel. Do you work for government perhaps ?

Apparently, the ratio of the price of a barrel of oil should always be around a certain multiple of the price of an ounce of gold. This is still holding true in the current climate, even with sky-high oil prices...

Just filled mum's honda jazz up (for the first time this year!) at our 'local' garage- not shell, not BP. Not really sure what it is tbh.
Unfortunately I managed to pull up the the SUL pump and filled it without noticing the price- £1.159 a litre FFS

Ah, but that ignores the continuing weakening of the dollar over the same period. Since oil is traded in dollars (for now, unless Mr Chavez gets his way!), the rise isn't actually as big as it would have been, had the £:$ ratio remained what it was.

Exchange rates have been 1.9 - 2.0 for almost a year.....the price of oil has gone up by 40% in the last two months...... you do the maths. It has nothing to do with exchange rate.
And again on the subject of tax, there are places that are taxed heavier than the U.K. and as was pointed out before...also some that are substantially less than the U.K.
Of course I don't like paying a high price for fuel, but I am not complaining about it as I understand 'why' the price is going up. It could and still may be a lot higher to come....

And another thing....
Natural disasters stop the production of oil. Not sure if people are aware of that....hurricane Katrina etc etc. Lots of North Sea platforms were evacuated and shut down in the last blow. Production stops....demand/supply oil price goes up....
