ECU RESET ON 04 STI

ECU RESET ON 04 STI
While i was away the other half allowed my neighbour to jump start his car off mine. When i got back the battery was totally flat so it was changed.
Now when i drive the car it does'nt seem the same and seems to have lost a bit of power, not much, but it does'nt seem as torqy, like the ppp has been disconnected back to a normal sti.
Bit worried that the jump start has done some damage as it's been over 100 miles since new battery and from what i've read ecu should have reset itself by now.....Do you think it's worth disconnecting the battery again or take it into a specialist?

Funny, i thought the same when my battery was flat. Turns out it resets to low boost setting. Not applicable for PPP though.
Second time it was other things causing problems, but still felt how you're describing.
After a chat with my mapper, it turns out the ECU can't go back to the standard map without a reflash. ie. The standard map is no longer there, it has been overwritten.

I suffered from a flat battery a couple of times in my car. It believe it reset the advance multiplier back to 8 (down from 16) and you lose your fine learning table. I'm no expert, but I'm sure someone will come along and explain it correctly.

In a nutshell it is as Robocop has described, your ECU will be running the advance multipler at 8 after a reset although if the conditions are right this will advance to 16 very quickly.

Thanks for the reply's.....If it's not reset itself correctly will i have to take it to a Subaru dealer or do you think it can be rectified by a specialist?...I live in the Manchester area if anyone knows of anywhere.

If you take it to your local Subaru dealer, they will connect it to a device called Select Monitor. If they then reset it, it will again do exactly as above. (AM back to 8 etc).
What I'd then do is ensure you have some decent fuel in the car, ie not 95Ron supermarket rubbish, but say V-Power,Esso 97 etc and take it for a spirited drive.
There is a way to bring it back to 16 quickly while holding it at certain revs in certain gears etc, but I can't remember it. Again I'm no expert but I'm sure Mocom or another mapping guru can give you a few pointers.

It will only be running at 8 and staying there is there is a problem, but if its been remapped the mapper can decide at what level the AM starts. Depends how confident he is in the base settings, this can't be done on a Jecs ecu though.
To get it learning select a high gear, start from about 2k rpm and "ease" the boost to 0.8 bar and hold allowing revs to build, if theres no problem the AM will trip up to max, if its already seen a problem this doesn't work so reset it again and then do it.
Also resetting and hooning it straight away will upset things, you need to "persuade" or "teach" the ecu that everything is hunkydory, a part throttle run at a steady 1 bar in 4th or 5th is usually sufficient.
Those that have participated know what I mean

Thanks for all the the advise.....Had the diagnostic machine on it yesterday,no fault codes so reset the ecu...Drove as Bob said and done quite a few miles since but still the same....Just wondering if maf sensor is faulty but not showing up....Car drives fine and smooth but not as quick...Think i'm going to have to take it to the nearest dealer in Manchester to find out why it's not going back to original settings after being driven .....Does anyone know anywhere good with this type of thing in the area except dealer?
