Hello all, thought i'd ask your opinions. My mates just had his 96 wrx rolling roaded at SAS and come back with 307bhp. This seems a bit high to me. the car has had all cats removed and has an hks filter. Anyone think that there is more to this car than at forst meets the eye or is this pretty much a normal figure
Cheers
Chris

Very high. Where was it rolling roaded?
If it's a 96 WRX (not STi) with exhaust mods I would expect it to be about 260-270bhp? If it is genuinely running 307bhp then it must have an aftermarket ECU, boost controller and stuff like that, with (I should imagine) STi internals.
Just my 2p![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Ask him to have a look at the dyno graph and see what boost it was running......a uk car on the last day we did there had psycho horsepower after a decat, but then we noticed it was producing the boost to justify it, not sure why it was boosting so hard though..

actually a standard 96 wrx with cats on jap fuel is at least 260ps possibly 280ps. If 276bhp as standard, then filter and full decat wouldn't be so far short of the mark, combine this with very cold weather therefore increased charge density and it isnt so unlikely.

Cheers, thought it was a bit high. The car was running about 1.1bar, has no boost controller and was rolling roaded at SAS in aldershot. I'm suspecting that it has been played with a bit over in Japan. Whats the safe limit on boosting a WRX?? don't want to see him blow it up, it's a nice dark blue one, haven't seen any other in that colour. Lowered on coilovers and 17" white 6 spoke magnesium alloys

had my 94 WRX (jap import) tuned after fitting a link ecu (and de-cat exhaust and larger air filter).
Tuner guy set max boost to 1.1 bar and the engine is still going strong after 2,000kms (previously boost was 0.75) - the car has done 95,000kms all up.
regards
