Default New Member wants his first Subaru

Hi everybody.

Another new member here.

I have around 7-8k to spend on a car and I am interested in the 2002 WRX.

However I have no idea what to look out for in buying this type of car second hand.

Where should I start ?

What things should I look for when checking out some examples I've seen on websites ?
For example...

Autotrader - SUBARU Impreza 2.0 WRX 4WD

OR

Autotrader - SUBARU Impreza 2.0 WRX 4WD,

Any tips or hints or links to more info would be extremely welcome .

Thanks !

honestly if I were looking in buying a second hand wrx, and I had no real idea of what to look for, I would look to employ someone to look over the car to make sure it was as described and not fooked.

most subaru specialists offer this service, scoobyclinic for one, but not sure where you live. also the AA offer a good service both are reasonably priced considering the service they offer. the highlighted areas are clicky.

hope that helps, and welcome to scoobynet

other option is a classic sti, depends which way you wanna go, the sti will be more hardcore, the wrx will be more of a comfortable ride, but not as hardcore

Have a look at PistonHeads.com :: Speed Matters and do a search on there around your budget. Never buy a Subaru (or any car) without full service history, ideally with all or some receipts also. Any gaps in the history, then walk away. As others have said, don't buy a green Impreza, unless of course you like that colour. I have seen several Impreza 2003 blobeyes for around £9500, if you can stretch to that, they are better than the bugyeye models. (imo).
