Right its about time i did an oil change on my baby, always done them on my other cars (under supervision, tut) but not on my pride and joy. This shouldnt be a problem with my boyfriend watching and loosening anything thats to tight but the amount of different oils on the market and everyone telling me a different SAE and 10 w40 this and 5 w50 that i am just about to give up.Can anyone tell me what oil to buy for my 03 sti.
It seems like i only post a thread when i need some advice but i promise there will be a day when a question is asked and i will know the answer. Then i will be worthy of being a true scoobynut.Thank you lots and lots in advance

For your 03 STi 5w/40 full synthetic would be perfectly fine, especially at this time of the year. Lots of makes to choose from but some are more easily available than others. Any of the respected brands such as Shell, Millers, Silkolene etc. will do the job. Don't forget to pre-fill the new filter before fitting. Take care to re-locate the undertray properly at the front (two "hooks" locate over the crossmember) and the two plastic clips at the rear.

Well to be fair your going to get a million different answers and to be honest most of it is
'My mate said this'
'I know a guy that's been working on scooby's for 14 years and he says ONLY use this oil'
'If you don't use this your engine will explode etc etc etc'
At the end of the day as long as your car is relatively unmodified as long as it's a decent quality oil the name dosn't really matter.
15w/50 is a bit too thick.10w/50 or 10w/40 is about spot on.
There is Silkolene Pro S 10w/50 which is a bit expensive but meant to be THE BEST.
But also there is the likes of Millers XSS 10W/40 which is a damn site cheaper but is very good quality.I've just bought 5 litres off EBAY for £25.
Oh and do your gearbox and diff oil whilst your down there
Get Castrol syntrax 5 litres should do both.

I have been biting my lip each time I see this thread ...... but I'm not going to tell the young lady that she only needs to spend £12:99 for adequate oil protection - it's Xmas and we all are entitled to waste money at this time of year
