Ive got 12k to spend. The choices are.
1. Evo 7
2. Focus RS
3. BMW330ci
4. Bugeye sti prodrve again
5.Save a couple of quid more and get a dc5 integra?
Any other recommendations would be great

Hmmm difficult... If it was just a toy I'd get the EVO but if you want to use it for everyday use I'd get the Bugeye..
You'll be bored of the 330 in 5 minutes and the Integra is a Honda and everyone knows Honda is only good at making motorbikes and adverts

Wouldnt go BMW or integra as they will feel slow. I had a drive of my mates and it was borin after bein in the scoob.
I'd probably go for the evo 7, then the focus RS.

I have been toyin with the evo7 just a bit worried about the running costs although mines not cheap. I like the way a normal focus drives, so thought good drive and good performance might be a good combination with the rs? Plus might be a bit cheaper to run?

Not sure what the Autronic ECU offers in the way of traction control, but if you think 260bhp is quick then you probably want/need traction control for the SC450 package, at least for on the road. I know that the MOTEC offers it and I would definitely want it if I went this route.
btw, I recently picked up a 2003 JDM STI with TSL333 package, OZ 18s and AP 6 pots for £11k. So, I'd say forget the bugeye prodrive and u'll prob be surprised at what u can get for that money and also at how cheap jap import insurance is.
Best of luck

11k That seems reasonable and being an import surely must be quicker than the uk equivelant? Minds working overtime trying to decide what to get. Appreciate eveerybodys advice though.

Good points.
Good build quality. (Fantastic compared to a Scooby)
Fantastic Brakes (Virtual race items)
Fantastic handling/grip (Good Chassis)
Blue-fin takes it straight away to 236BHP & 263 lb/ft Torque
1275kg
Rare
Bad points.
Some cars suffered terrible Torque steer (Mine wasn't that bad) so try out a few as they do vary.
1st & 2nd gear hard acceleration in the wet will result in lots of wheel-spin.
More good points than bad.

I drove a Focus RS for a couple of hours. I couldn't wait to get out!
In a straight line it was great, on a twisting back road, it kept wanting to throw me into the hedge whenever I overtook. (It was a virtually new car).
Stilover has obviously had more experience of them than me, but I would say test drive one first as Clarkson and Evo mag had the same experience as me.
The new Focus ST is better and faster, but probably still too expensive (and I'd rather have a scoob).

Flame suit on..........
No. They both weigh about the same. With Blue-fin there both pushing out the same'ish power. Once on the move there is nothing in it. In the wet then the Scoob obviously has the traction advantage.(1st & 2nd gear only)
The only thing to do is test drive a few and make your own mind up.
Do I miss mine? Yes, without doubt. It felt more special than my STI. Thats why in 2009 when Ford start selling the new RS, I'll be selling the Scoob and getting the RS. Mine was number 2497

However the press cars were set up with a more agressive diff setting. As Evo found out when they tested a customer car.
Don't get me wrong, Torque steer is there and on the wrong road it can be dangerous, but on 95% of the time on 95% of roads, I was happily overtaking one handed.
On a flat smooth road it is really awsome.
That's why I say test drive a few. They do seem to vary.

Personally I would have an EVO 7 or the bug eye. They are probably the most versitile of the choice, and great alrounders. The evo would probably edge it as I prefer the styling.

I'd consider getting an unmolested bug Sti for £9k and throwing £3k at it to get it to 400HP
