Hi all,

it depends on where the puncture is and if its safe to do, no decent tyre repair place will repair if its unsafe.

As above, get it repaired if possible.

As above - the general rule is not to repair it if it has sidewall damage.

Get it repaired definatly, repairs on tyres these days are excellent, i've had punctures fixed on motorcycle tyres and have never encountered any problems, but as above any damage to the sidewall means it's fooked.

Get it repaired if you can, if its an inch or more from the edge they'l be able to fix it. if its closer than an inch to the tyre wall you'l probably need a new tyre anyway.

I would try getting it repaired. Last time I had a puncture, ended up having 2 tyres so that the grip was the same etc....

Generally if its in the middle 1/3rd of the tread most places will repair it. As people say any sidewall damage and its scrap.

Get it repaired wont take any longer then getting a new one and it'll be much cheaper. Also means you wont end up with an odd tire thats got lots more tread then the rest.

Get a proper vulcanized repair. This is completely different to a normal tyre repair and you can safely mend anything, even sidewalls (within reason). I had one done recently on a brand new tyre: it was just on the very edge of the tread and a normal tyre repair wasnt possibe. It cost me £15 and they needed the tyre for a couple of days (after the repair has been made the tyre has to be left overnight in a big f*ck-off autovlave where its heated up under pressure).

I see that my advice differs from the majority (again), so I will emphasize that a vulcanized repair has nothing in common (apart from stopping the leak!) with the normal plug-type tyre repairs that the other posters are referring to.

the tyre repair that you had done is know as a major repair this is generally carryed out on hgv/lgv vehicle but can be carried out on car/4x4 and van tyres but it does down grade the tyre to a limited speed 50mph (like a space saver) this repair is carried to the tyre where a repair A6/A8 plug repair can not be done in a tyre centre. and normaly has to be sent away.

If the treads are all about the same why don't use just use the repaired tyre as the spare?

Got my car tyre fixed rather than get a new tyre, no problems somfarand its been over two months now, far cheaper paying £6 rather than over £100 IMHO.
