Default Strange no news from Subaru UK about new Forester !!!

Why are Subaru UK keeping stumm about all new Forester ? Not even a mention in their "news" section ? Nothing to be ashamed about - it looks a sight better than the new Impreza...............

It was only announced on Xmas Day in Japan. No-one has been into the offices in the UK yet I would have thought.

Been to Subaru UK HQ a few months ago with some other Scooby owners on a "Focus Group" to assess the new Forester.

Apalling bit of kit really.

The Forester is a jacked up Estate & dominates the sector, you have Audi & Volvo there as well (there are probably a couple of other players as well, can't think of any at the moment).

Now the New Forester wants to go head to head with Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Audi, Porsche,Cadilac, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Jeep,Kia, Honda, Mitsubushi, Nissan,Suzuki, Toyota, VW, (Hope I've not missed anyone).

It's Taller, Wider, Longer just like the Mud Pluggers who have been in there a very long time & Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes, pretty much domiating.

With the Forester, "Jacked up Estate Car" could do a bit of Mud Plugging, Carrying Kit, and with the Turbo Models, Wolf in Sheeps Clothing.

I saw a link I will try to find for you to make up your own mind.

I think it's a big mistake, along with the new Impreza. They said they want to appeal to more main stream purchasers, the Japs were over & didn't look happy little bunnies when they were told how the new Model was perceived.

Regards

I think this is the link>>>>>>>>>>http://www.caranddriver.com/autoshow...-forester.html

The pictures don't really show how much bigger it looks compared to the current Forester.

Regards

Surely this then puts the Forrester in the same sector as the Tribeca? Unless they're trying to do a BMW - X3/X5 thing.. which seems a bit silly to me - as did BMW doing it in the first place

I did makert research for this a couple of years ago and said that the current Forester size was ideal for the UK, but needed to be sportier.... looks like they listened to me.

Quite like the look of that ! Wheels look a bit too small thought if its supposed to be a proper SUV !
Caranddriver link is giving me a virus warning when going through the pics though !

It's an automated slide show, not giving Avast any issues.

It seems that recent Subaru strategy of new model designs is what will sell well in the US, rather than what is of reasonably good taste to the rest of the planet.

Looks like an improvement over the old model to me.
The old one offered little over the Impreza Wagon. No more room and no real off-road ability. At least this has some decent interior space and, with any luck, a bigger boot than the old model. It is still far smaller (and lighter) than the Tribeca.

I assume that Subaru UK arre waiting to shift large stocks of unsold 2006/7 Foresters and Tribecas before launching the new models. In fact I doubt that the 2008 Tribeca will ever be released over here as they'll be sitting on a pile of unsold 2 year old Tribecas this time next year. The only thing that'll make Subaru re-introduce the Tribeca is a diesel engine and I understand that the 3.0 version is unlikely to be with us until the 2010 model year.
