burning oil smell!!!!!

Default burning oil smell!!!!!

as above.hi peeps this burning smell only happens when i put me foot down and give it some.i caint find out where its coming from as i've looked everywhere around the engine.when i dont boot the car it dosent happen has anybody got any ides ov wot it could be (and dont say wot the mrs said well dont boot it then she's) any help would be appriciated thanks in advance

mine does the same occcasionally, mine also has a whirrling sound which i thought was from a bearing. i took it too a garage and its definately a bearing in 1 of the pulleys.....having it replaced and i will let you know if smell goes away....by the way dont boot it? whats a scooby for? lol

That would be cam seals mate check your cam covers at the bottom on each side and you will know...

Mine only did it when i gave it a bit of right foot as well, it was the crankshaft oil seal behind the main pulley. It took a bit of finding as the oil ran down behind the cambelt covers and onto the exhaust, changed it my self, quite an easy job really

thanks guys.can she still be driven i diont wanna do any damaged to the engine or is it best to get it done asap as its still under warrenty till feb.i would like to do it myself but not 2 clued up on scooby engines how hard will it be to do it.and also how much would it cost if its not a part covered by my warrenty sorry for all the questions but im a little worried about it.thanks again peeps

Its not hard to do, you don’t have to be clued up on scooby engines as long as you have an idea of what goes where and how tight to do things. I got the info of the net as I didn’t have a manual, its just a bit time consuming so if you had to pay the garage its not cheap as you would fit a new cambelt while you are there. You wont do any damage to the engine IF it is the crankshaft seal that is leaking, your just using a little oil that’s all, but if your still under warranty why get your hands dirty.

cheers matey.i've had the car 10 months and in that time its had new front discs and pads(under warrenty) now they say it needs a new clutch (not under warrenty) now the cam or crank seals have gone just hope the parts are covered if not i'll have to save me pennys.thanks for the advise much apprieciated.
