Motul 10w40 is ideal, good cold start protection and more than enough for fast road IMHO. In my 05 wrx the most I see is 105c (that's taken from main oil gallery above cyl #3 BTW)..![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
OEM oil filter, Green/KN panel air filter and NGK PFR6B's for a mostly standard car (7B's for anything else this side of ~400bhp), gapped to .65 - .70..

Do a search for 'oil' and you'll get a million answers ranging from the 5/30 to the 10/60's.... Don't even get these guys started on synthetic, semi or mineral..... ![Lol1](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/lol1.gif)
It really does depend on the power you have, how and where you drive it (track days?) and how often you plan to change it.... plus how much money you have for the decent stuff..
If you go for the manufacturers rating and change it nice and regular then you wont go wrong... If you have some extra power over standard and drive it long and hard, you'll be doing your car a favour if you feed in the decent Synth stuff and change it regular.. If not, you can get away with semi or some people will argue even mineral if, again, you change it regular (couple of times a year).
I use 10/40 in mine and have used 10/60... all to no detriment because I change it 3 times a year or so (nice club group buy on some Fuchs

Iv'e seen a couple of theads like this one but no one mentions mobil 1, is there a problem with this oil in scoobs as iv'e had my type R 3yrs now and it's had 4 mobil 1 oil changes in that time only as the previous owner used it in this car and i thought it best to keep the same oil.

I went through all this when I did an oil change and was advised to get this level of oil, not brand that was my choice:
Engine Silkolene Pro S - 10w/50w
Gearbox Silkolene silktran syn 5
Diff Silkolene silktran syn 6
Brakes Halfords 5.1 brake fluid
Not plugging at all...but ...Opie oils is very good (oilman on here) and is a wealth of knowledge.
You also get a discount when buying from them for just mentioning here.

Dont be tempted to get a cheaper pattern oil filter, use the genuine Subaru one. I fitted a Halfords filter, assuming that it would be fine, but it never quite sealed against the engine properly and kept having a small trickle of oil escaping when driving - nothing serious, just annoying.
