Why cant I sell my car?

Why cant I sell my car?
Ok I know it's a bad time of year but my car has been for sale now since the end of October (advertised on Piston Heads, Auto Trader mag/website and once in the local press). So far I have had a few people ring to enquire but no one has actually turned up to see the car.
The car is honestly immaculate and drives like new. It seems like such a waste that it's just sat in my garage week in week out waiting for a new owner. I am driving a merc now as a daily car so only take scoob out once a week to make sure battery doesn't go flat and burn rust off the brake discs.
What am I doing wrong?????????? Help.

Is this a band G car? I know this band is taking a serious hit depreciation wise due to the incoming £400 a year tax.
I don't know too much about new shape Impreza values. All I can say is that you've either priced it too high or not advertised it correctly. It is also a bad time of year to be selling a car. I'd advise looking through past prices of similar cars sold on Ebay and getting a glass guide trade valuation and working a pice around both of these.

looks nothing wrong with ad, price seems very fair, condition is excellent, must just be wrong time of year, most people start saving for christmas from oct onwards and that along with fuel prices of late could be putting most off, good look in finding it a new owner

Hmmm? Had a quick look at the ad mate (as I was looking for a Scoob recently - but went to the 'dark side') and all seems in order. Car looks good (if a bit ugly at the front end and not quite filling its wheelarches ). Should be a good buy for someone wanting what looks like a nice clean car - havent compared costs, but seems ok for a recent car.
Where you advertising it?

looks like a good deal tbh, good price & good ad, do you live in sticks somewhere? that could be your problem, people wont travel too far to go and see a wrx, no matter how good it is,

I think it's priced to sell. Looked on auto trader and its at bottom end of price range for a WRX05. I guess its just a case of waiting for the right person. Will ramp up the advertising campaign in the new year.
In terms of tax - i believe its the lower band car as it is registered prior to March 06. It costs me £205 a year.
I have advertised it on auto trader web site and the magazine and also on Piston Heads and in local press. Not a lot else I can do really. I think it will be an excellent buy for someone, it's just a shame that the main dealer warranty is running out all the time it is sat in the garage.

Selling any car is tough these days! So long as you don't need a quick sale your best bet is to just bide your time as a buyer will come along eventually. I've just sold an immaculate TT Roadster to the first person that saw it, trouble was no one came to look for the last 4 months!

You could try it on e-bay. I have sold several cars this way - cash or bankers cheque in the hand only though. I often think cars get better exposure there than on the very overpriced 'raking it in' Autotrader. Just be wary of ususal E bay scammers and (as with Autotrader etc) insist you know who someoene is (verify where they work etc) before a vist or have a test drive.
Good cars will go (took me 9 months for an RS4) - just makle it as easy as poss that they buy yours; offer to meet potential buyers halfway, once they prove ID etc.
Good luck

Thanks for the support.
Apparently even bankers drafts are no longer a safe transaction - people have sold cars via bankers draft only for the bank to not honour it. I think the advice was to never sell via a bankers draft on a saturday as you need conformation from the bank. Maybe someone else knows more.
I would consider e bay but dont really like it. Can you just advertise on there without actually giving a % cut to e bay and running an auction?

The most common way it to end the auction early. Always put 'advertised elsewhere' in the listing.

Nothing wrong with this form of payment, IF you do a couple of things, which are:-
1. Make sure the buyer presents you the draft within banking hours.
2. Contact the bank who drew up the draft and check that it is genuine (with its unique number)
If the Bank confirms the draft it is as good as cash and a lot safer!!

I'm pretty sure I've seen your car parked up near the hospital with a for sale sticker in the window? Looks pretty immaculate. I dread to think what mine is worth or more likely isn't worth now! Part of the problem must be the fact that you have been able to get brand new hawkeyes at Motor Depot etc for around £14k with warranty. Maybe the new ugly hatch will make it easier to sell saloons in good nick in the new year.

They are really, really cheap these days ......
I have owned my Impreza from new in May 2000 - I may change in May 2008, the loss will be around £18,000 over the 8 years - £2250 a year, which sounds better than if you sell after 2 years and lose £6000 or more a year!
Thats why I make sure I know what I want when I buy - so that I keep it for a long time ..... I may even keep my current car until it is 10 years old, shouldn't lose too much from here on in

Car is now sold. Buyer has got a great deal - hope he enjoys Scooby ownership as much as I did.

There are too many Imprezas far sale that's why. So many to choose from buyers have such a large choice.
You only have to look on Pistonheads to see over 900 currently for sale.
Glancing down the list of other marques there are more Scoobys than anything on there!
Once a cult car now spolit by cheap chaved up versions. Such a shame.

Ironically a guy read this very post, turned up on new years eve and bought it! He just picked it up today - it really was an immaculate Impreza though and I am certain he will love it. I was confident it would sell if someone turned up to look at it but it's nice to get it all sorted

Nothing is shifting at the moment.
The only ways is to is wait, and wait. Sniff round to see if any mates/club members maybe interested. Drop the price significantly or trade it in.
We have an S-type and a Celica that has been for sale during the last quarter of last year: The Celica is one of the cheapest UK 190VVTLi's on Autotrader with just 27K on the clock - whilst many wre asking more money for cars with double the mileage.
Not one single call on either (except emails from Nigrian scammers ), depsite being advertised on an off for a 2 weeks every month.
