what times do you people get for 80-100, ive got a uk turbo wagon with a few little mods and do this in 5th in just under 5 secs, 4.93 by passenger stop watch. a bloke i work with has an astra vxr and states his does the same little sprint in 6th in 6 secs. this was before i told him i did mine in 5 secs. just wondering what times other people get and what power they are running. trying to get an idea of what power my wagon is putting out.
mods are
newage TMIC
sti y piece
1.2bar via dawes and FCD
Full decat and scooby sport back box
itg panel filter with cold air ducting
fuel pressure at 3.2bar with walbro&AFR
sti8 scoop
lightweight crank pully
various brake and suspenstion upgrades.
i will get it along to a RR one day
thanks
Rich

Now I'm not normally one to haul people up on spelling and grammar, but it's: "Is this what it's coming to?"
But, seriously, what are you getting at? Do you mean accelerating from 80-100mph is irresponsible? I could give you half a dozen instances where it's got me out of a potentially dangerous situation on the motorway. So it's actually a sensible question.
Don't know in what time I can accelerate from 80-100, but I do know that removing the centre cat & replacing the backbox with a Scoobysport system on my UK MY99 seemed to make a marked improvement in fifth gear at these speeds.
Dan.

4-5 seconds for me on a MY98 WRX with a standard Japanese gearbox. Better to get someone else to time for you while you're driving. Also is it holding it at 80, then flooring it to 100, or is it accelerating 'through' 80-100, which will be quicker.
100-120 is 5-6 seconds on mine, just for reference.
It's an interesting way of comparing your motor's performance to these 500bhp+ bruisers that the Germans make nowadays, because often the 80-100 in 5th comes up in magazine road tests as a good muscle benchmark, now that a fair few hot hatches do 0-60 in the 6's and sometimes 5's. Don't read too much into it though.

i had a passenger with the stop watch and i was at about 75 then foot down and say when the need passes through 80 and again at 100. not tried the 100 - 120 as yet but 5 - 6 secs sounds pretty quick.

Well it is a fairly quick car. If you've never been quarter miling, you should give it a go, if you're interested in this kind of performance testing. After all, the opportunities to do 100-120 in 5th with a passenger timing you don't come up that often LOL.

Well here's a clip of my 'it's only a wrx' (admittedly through the gears
) from the summer:
Video of WRX 70-120 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Not checked it lately, however it's now a bit quicker, after a few 'minor' tweaks..

Crikey. Respect! I tried it on the drive home last night in my classic on an empty M3 (New Year's Eve) - fifth gear, almost dead on five seconds.
