classic glass prices ...shocking
I wont tell the whole story but my front and rear screens got smashed just before Christmas outside my house on the 26th, I rang the insurance company who put me on to AUTO GLASS WINDSCREEN who they deal with , they said they would get the local depot to ring first thing as this was at 03.15 am and they was shut. i got the phone call the following morning and gave all my details , make ,model ,year and chassi number. i then received no call from them as to when my car was going to be fixed.I rang on the 29th and they said it would be in the new year now as they could not get hold of a screen . .its now the 3rd of January and i got a call today saying they will have to contact the insurance company to authorize the repair cost . The chap on the phone gave me the prices of the glass :
FRONT SCREEN £800
REAR SCREEN £1200
TOTAL £2000 for a couple bits of glass. thats from a Subaru dealer .. The insurance gave the OK to repair the glass so i was then told that the rear glass was on back order so i will have to wait another 5 - 10 working days for the glass to appear. i think this is a joke and will be writing to the AA who recommend these places, I'm totally lost without a car , i cannot even get a courtesy car as my policy does not include them under glass repair ..
So what I'm saying is i hope people are prepared for a shock when you get the price ....lol , Ive only got to pay £60 excess luckily ..

£800 for a windscreen is a total rip off. I recently paid £156 + VAT (3rd party poverty insurance) via these people, who were very good - no complaints at all:
Autoglazing - Windscreen Replacement and Repair - 0800 18 11 12
