Gearbox fluid and diff fluid-annually.
Spark plugs- you can get away with two years if you don't do much mileage.
Air filter- depends on what you have, OE paper one every six months. Aftermarket cotton ones are lifetime jobbies.
Fuel filter- two years.
Coolant-I do it annually.

Gearbox fluid and diff fluid - every 2 years along with brake fluid.
Plugs as above every couple of years / 30k miles.
Air filter - I change every year for a £6 pattern part (still great quality).
Fuel filter - every couple of years
Oil/filter - every 6 months or 7.5k miles whichever comes first.
Coolant - every 50k miles - only done it once so far.

Whatever you're happy with I suppose. Mines all done by the local Subaru garage every 6 months for oil/filter general look over but anything else I do myself - plugs, coolant, brakes, gearbox oil etc..

I'd say 3k/3 months is a little unnecessary but I suppose it depends how you drive it.

p.s. Quick edit - also depends on the spec of your car. I'd guess if it's highly tuned it's worth doing the oils and filters more regularly?

My air filter is green cotton.

I dont have a tuned car, its a just a 310bhp type-R so revs hard all the time, i dont drive it much, but when i do drive it, i drive it hard.
I do all work on it myself, so only need to pay for parts.

So what about brake and clutch fluid?

brake and clutch fluid every 2 years unless your using for track and then it could be after each session for brake fluid

For a MY97 car:

Gearbox fluid: 2 years
Rear Diff fluid: 2 years
Spark plugs: 2 years
HT leads: NEVER! Original. (obviously would get replaced if condition dictated otherwise - or if it was suffering from a misfire or hestitancy etc, and new plugs didn't cure it ).
Air filter: As and when - on inspection: usually 2 years
Fuel filter: 2 years
Engine coolant: 2 years
Brake fluid: 2 years

Oil 6months

All manufacturer's reccomended grades and specs and intevals

Oh and cambelt: 3years (should be 5years, but being a MY97 the belt is only warranteed for its recomended service interval (i.e 3 years), whilst a MY98 has 5 year intevals, and uses the exact same belt (same part no.). Legal Politics

Tensioner: as and when. (inspect bearing condition and piston.)
Idlers pulleys: same

...Of which lasted between 6 and 9 years.

Geometry gets check on everytime tyres get replaced or handling feels a bit iffy or odd tyre wear is noticed (with inspection of all bushes and balljoints beforehand).

Everything else: original.

I like to be **** about looking after my car engine, the way i see it is, i have a very high mainteance car, so keeping everything that runs it fresh, will help prolong the life of it.
This is the routine i will be keeping.

Engine oil & filter (Subaru filter + sump plug washer) = 3 months
Gear box & Diff's = 12 months
Coolant = 12 months
Spark plugs = 12 months (I have upgraded these from the 6's to the 7's)
Fuel filter = 24 months
Break & clutch fluid = 24 months (I have allready upgraded this to dot 5.1)
Cambelt & Tensioner = 36 months

I will leave leads unless i get problems
Also will leave air filter as i have a green cotton 1

Have i covered all fluids and parts that need regular changing?
What about altonator & AC belts?

Does the propshaft/drive shafts have any grease nipples that need greasing?

Oil and Filter change every 6 months.

All the rest are done by the dealer come service time if they need doing.

By jove you are very fastidious when it comes to car maintenance. Albeit that is no bad thing but unless you drive the car particularly hard, I
think you could lengthen the period on some of the servicing.

theres a good old debate that new oil all the time can actually be more harmful than keepin oil in the engine for 6 mths, any less and constant fresh oil can cause more damage.

good old debate that one.

3 mths is a bit **** to me, 3000 isnt alot of mile, even driven hard.

but hey,each to their own.

must change mine, 18 mths and 8k so far, good old magantec.

Mine will usually get serviced along with my other motors during the summer.. If theres nothing wrong with them i will spend a weekend changing various fluids. But to be honest I have bought the impreza as a daily driver/low maintinence car.

Will change oils once a year, but plugs and filters only when i notice its not running right.
