Welcome and congrats on the purchase of your wagon/scoob

No history? ....mate, I'd would get a service done asap unless you are sure one was done when you bought it. Otherwise you have no idea how it's been looked after - don't look after scoobs, thrash em and they go pop!

Hello and welcome.

Where abouts are you from? May help someone point you in the direction of a good garage for you needs.

It might be worth contacting your local Subaru dealer and giving them the reg number/vin to see if their computer has a record of any work and services carried out on the car.

Welcome to SN

If it has no service history, get a service done asap, would suggest you get the cambelt changed as part of it too! Oil changes and cambelt swaps need to be done on time, or it could cost you an engine.

Leave the dump valve well alone: the std one is best for a std car.

Also, without wanting to be patronising, you do know that you need to allow the car time to warm up properly before using boost and not switch it off straight after a period of hard driving don't you? Many new owners treat these cars like the runabouts the've often upgraded from, and get to regret it quite quickly!

They are very reliable cars if properly looked after and driven, but they don't tolerate abuse/neglect well and will punish any such behaviour with BIG bills

Tell us whereabouts you are and we'll point you in the direction of a good specialist.

If the car's been serviced or had any work done by Subaru then there should be a record of this on their system. You would expect that while the car was under warranty it was serviced by Subaru. I think, although I'm not 100% sure, that such records are kept on a central database and any dealership has access to them so you don't have to contact the one that carried out the work.

What about contacting the last owner (see the v5) and asking them what they had done, if they've got any paperwork etc?

I think the red leads are standard. They're red on my car which is a MY2000 UK model so very similar to yours.

Cheers
