it will be the first time ive driven my03 wrx on the motorways for long periods and was just wondering how many miles people get on m/ways driving at a steady 70 mph think its around 400ish miles.

I did Middlesbrough to Dorchester in Dorset in a newage STI. £60 to fill up the tank and I had to stop once and put another £10 in to finish the journey. Think its about 330 miles all in. To be fair, I did stick at 70 most of the way.

The last couple of years I've taken my 04 wrx loaded with 3 people,3mountain bikes and all the camping gear for a week or so in Cornwall and managed ok.Plus once I got there and ditched the bikes I enjoyed some great cornish roads.Something you can't do in a rented focus 1.6 (0-60 eventually).Filled up a few times though but got from Okehampton in devon to home in Chesterfield on a tankful.PS bent the bike rack due to cornering too hard with bikes on roof!So my advice is take your impreza and enjoy it.

Travelling down from Scotland last summer with my wife + Camping and climbing gear, on the M6 mid-week, daytime, we got 33+ mpg at a max speed of about 80 mph (ie the same speed as most other traffic). Car's a MY 05 WRX PPP, wagon, fuel was 97 RON or higher. The mpg figure is bang on what Prodrive reckon this car should get.

well i did it just got back and must say i got 392 miles out of a tank of normal morrisons unleaded in newquay because there was no shell garages around and 20 of those miles included back cornish roads .
so all in all i got to newquay from hull in 1 tank and got back in 1 tank and thats driving at 70-80 mph

Keeping just under boost (67-69mph) all the way I once got 32.75mpg on a run from Devon to Leeds. When I re-brimmed her at the garage near home there was still about 10 litres in the tank, so I worked out I could have got about 420 miles from the tank
Same trip this year in our Octavia TDi got us 56mpg with no care about speed whatsoever
