Default What's a little louder than a classic STi backbox?

Not really that technical this question; all I need is people's opinions on backboxes for a classic. I've a MY98 WRX with GGR sports cat, H&S straight through centre and STi backbox. Sounds nice as it is but I do find myself running around at 2500-3000 rpm a lot, just to enjoy the burble coming into effect at that point. Lower and higher than that and it's just your regular loud engine noise if you are caning it.

I definitely don't want anything loud. I've had a side exit system, 3" all the way through before on my previous track car and don't need the hassle from the coppers, the neighbours, my wife or the Nurburgring sound tester.

So what's one step up from the classic STi box? I just want more of a burble throughout the revs if that's possible, not just at one 'sweet spot'. I can handle it being a little louder overall as long as it's not loud when cruising.

WR Sport, PPP or P1 backbox should also do the job.

The P1 Prodrive box is just on the limit of getting silly loud if you ask me.. Thats what I've got and IMHO the sound is perfect without making you look a tit as I'm quite capable of looking a tit without my car helping

ditto, but add a resonated centre section as you have a wagon...reduces booming on the motorway

Yes...... just the one hanger will be in the wrong orientation, leave as it is or cut it off,the other two at the bumper end will be fine on thei own.

So I've found a Prodrive WR Sport one off a 2002 car; will the exhaust hang right if I cut off the offending hanger? What I mean is will it put undue strain on the joint to the centre box?

No it will be fine with the two rear hangers supporting the rear box along with the hanger on the center section supporting the rest........
