Differences in ECU mapping software

Hi Chaps,
I am now ready to look at getting my car mapped (Bug STI - no PPP, H&S Exhaust & centre decat))
Reading through, the two that seem to crop up are ECUTEK (lots of info) and another product offered by Mocom.
What are the main differences? Will one provide a better drive/output/reliability? There are differences in pricing.
Naturally I will be enquiring with all garages that offer these services for pricing etc but wondered what the end user experience is and if anyone has ever tried both types of software mapping?
Many Thanks

how they work etc is differeing but thats more down to the mapper being able to use the software.

As Tidgy said, you need to look at the mappers experience with the software mate. It's not that one solution is inherently better than others for all applications; it depends what you want out of the car. For most, an Ecutek custom map is ideal. For those who want more flashy features e.g. anti lag, or who seek much higher outputs, it may be worth looking at Apexi, Simtek, Motec etc...

I am just after a bit more power and to make the most out of the mods. It was just interesting to see 2 makes recommended but I didnt know the differences between them.
There is approx £200 difference between the products.

Live mapping is probably the way to go then, out on the road with the mapper sat next to you. That way you can get him to customise the car to your driving and exactly how you want to play it.
I had ecutek on mine and i can't fault it.
